Why are the wide receivers not an option?
It's hard to blame a group that was being held and interfered with on every play. The Eagles secondary was getting away with murder and when they did get caught red-handed the refs wouldn't call PI but some bs illegal contact penalty that is only 5 yards.

Has everybody forgotten about Considine tripping over himself with clear daylight ahead of him on that fake punt?
I'm pretty sure he tripped over a teammate

That pretty much neutured the playcalling. Tack on Flacco's interception and we're back to the same old vanilla offense that's been ticking us off for so long. I know it's unlikely Cam called the fake, but it affected the team as a whole. I don't know if it's Harbaugh who's scared to go for the win or if it's Cam.

I agree. They were just non existent today, holding or not.

With any regular crew other than Ron Winter we probably win that game. There were multiple times the regular refs would have flagged those DBs. I think the refs were just scared of the Philly fans, and can you blame them? They would have been lit on fire if they didn't hand Philly the game.

Agreed
The whole mess was just pathetic. Why risk momentum with an unnecessary trick play.
Don't even get me started on Ron Winter. I still don't forgive him for the Roddy White OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE non-call against Wilson a couple of years back.

Unpredictability. To continue the momentum. To keep a good drive going.

Too many things to select just one. Officiating was horrid on the OPI call. Nnamdi was clearly holding on to Jacobys hands. They were holding our receivers all game and not getting called for it..

Almost zero pass rush. This is going to hurt us going up against very good QBs in the short future. Seems like vanilla is the flavor of defense this season.

Offense went back to the offense of old. Running a no huddle would have been great as the eagles rely heavily on substitution packages. We didn't carry that over to this week and it bit us. Abandoning the run on the final drive in a short yardage situation on 3rd down and 2 with two timeouts left. It comes down to poor play calling on the offensive side and not capitalizing on the turnovers the D gave the O.

Its really hard to say one thing that lost us the game.. I think there were a lot of factors that ultimately lost us the game.
1. Offensive line: Im not going to be so hard on them considering they are still getting used to each other and they werent going against some no name pass rushers. Unfortunately Joe was getting pressured every single play and the receivers didnt have any time to really run any long routes. Flacco was often forced to just dump it off to Rice, who had another defender right on him..
2. Pass Rush: Again they are a very young unit and i think they did an ok job on first and second down, but whenever there was a 3rd and long I felt like Vick had all the time in the world. On a side note,i think Upshaw had a pretty nic.e day. I often saw him involved with the play.
3. Vanilla play calling: It was so frustrating to see us rush three on a 3rd and long. Like i said before, Vick had all the time in the world, and he picked us apart.
4. Secondary: Man, it Carry Williams looking worse and worse each game. He is constantly getting beat, but with that said i dont see it as a huge problem just because he is always only a half step behind. Carry is great at being a half step behind the receiver. A lot of people seem to think Jimmy Smith is a shut down corner, but never in a game have i seen this. Not saying he doesnt have the potential to be one, but he is far from it. I feel he is constantly losing his receiver when he turns his head. And it pains me to say this, but Ed Reed needs to wrap up!! lol
5. No-Huddle: Where was it? I thought that was our new identity, so we could wear out there defense? I constantly saw us snapping the ball with like 3 seconds on the play clock...
there were other factors, but as you can see, we have a lot of work to do!
(and please, can we not act as if the sky is falling?)

Dean Pees is a joke of a play caller. I saw it last week as well. Playing a zone defense all game is no way to win a football game. Vick for all the haters is elite if Flacco is elite.
Thank you so lets end all the talk of elite for the season.......So tired of all the hype just to lose a game that we had in the bag. Why did we stop running the football? What the heck is going on with this coaching staff?

I don't think any of our players played at a level much lower than their pay grade against the Eagles. It was a close game and I think a lot of the reason we lost was purely random. I'm not saying there's not things that we can improve, but sometimes teams lose just because things don't go their way.

Offensive and defensive playcalling was horrible. Promote Caldwell fire Cam. Let Austin take over the D.............J/k but something needs to be done.

One down game doesnt mean we (anyone) should stop talking about the kid. Hes a good QB. Bring on NE!

Yes, Rice should have touched the ball during the first two series at the beginning of the first half. He didnt = two 3 and outs!
He is a good QB on certain days. Today was not one of them. Dean Pees defense is worst than Mattison's im sorry everybody that caught a pass was wide open.

Do you suppose that the players are at fault as well? It's obvious there were several instances of miscommunication (the most glaring one being the Maclin TD), and it takes a little time to install a new system.

Wow people, the Ravens do not suck. There are good NFL players on the other side of the ball.
They do not suck normally. Today they sucked badly. Regardless of the quality of the players on the other side of the ball, the Ravens players failed to execute, and the schemes were just stupid.

I'm sure others have pointed this out, but what happened to the no-huddle offense? Whose call was that?

We looked like two different teams in the 1st and 2nd halves, respectively.

I mainly blame offense, but the Eagles were connecting on a ton of passing plays. It was frustrating to watch Vick throw darts to Maclin, Jackson, and Celek (sp?) and they'd barely get tackled. That needs to improve.

We are better than this. I know Pees is a new defensive coordinator, so I hope there is improvement.
