The Refs.....(Post Eagles Game)

222 posts in this topic

The corners got away with mauling, and the Oline got worn out from having to pass protect against some 1970s 15 yards of contact. It looks like this week is going to get some leverage back to the refs.

Lets be clear here, these refs are doing their best but its an entirely different ballgame. They're low level college refs because anyone with a future in college knows that crossing this picket line will upset college assigners who are usually former NFL guys.

The problem is the NFL thinks that these guys are doing ok, and theyre more worried about saving a few bucks than keeping the integrity because they know as much as I hate it I'll still be watching next week.

I'll complain about the refs, but the ultimate problem here is the NFL can't get the deal done.

I'm done being mad. At least it l wasn't a conference game. On to NE next week. I will say though the holding on Torrey that wasn't called and the Jacoby td were game chargers.

holding torrey...probably over 4 times in 3rd qtr alone!

This is one of those games where if it goes either way, one side celebrates and the other complains.

For one, the refs made terrible calls, no denying. At the same time, what I saw was Cam Cameron taking control of the offense.

Instead of mixing things up, he made plays predictable. That contributed.
Flacco was fair, but of course everyone will blame it on him. The receivers were well covered and he had to throw into tight coverage. I didn't see much of his famous deep balls today which usually work out well for us.

The defense was highly inconsistent and refused to make the necessary plays to cover the TE and DJackson. Whenever we rushed Vick made the quick throw which killed us. We need to cover these guys better.

In a way, the Eagles defense was the exact opposite. Good at pass rush, bad at rushing plays. Vice versa.

In the end, the refs stole a victory. But at the same time, even if we won, there are still things to think about this team.

EDIT: One more thing OLine was inconsistent.

Also, this will be the first of many that the replacements refs will throw.

Sad but true.....dont look to win away games unless we blow them out early.

Not the refs. Im tired of this blaming the ref talk, its pathetic really. Flacco could have won us the game but he didn't, thats that.
Yeah but here's the thing.

He did win the game once already. And the refs made a terrible call to negate it.

Honestly this is a trend in the league. I'm not using it as an excuse because we didn't deserve that win but it has been a trend thus far that DBs have been allowed to hold. That's why it starting to looked more like a defensive league than offensive even with the 40 point games last week.

we should have won a game we didnt deserve winning. the refs did take that away. refs aside, we win this game if we have a competent OC

When its all said and done, Harbaugh's career will be judged by the fact that he squandered an opportunity to win a super bowl because of his friendship with cam cameron

That should have been a TD pass to Jones. It's frustrating. Those guys are doing their best I'm sure and learning on the job. Maybe we just need to adapt and have our corners cling to their man 20 yards down the field instead of playing 10 yards off for an easy completion.

Flacco threw a TD in the 4th that would have basically guaranteed a win, and the refs took it away on a blown call.

I have no problem with criticizing people who are bad at their jobs, the refs deserve to be held accountable.

Is there anyone else who thought the Ed Reed roughing the passer call, early in the game was a horrific call? Reeds hand barely touched Vicks head...then they got the ball at the 1 and of course scored..Ravens lost simple as that, but the refs had a huge impact on the game, calls always seemed to be in eagles favor. Flacco disappeared in the 2nd and the play calling as usual was putrid, especially on 3rd downs and short yardage situations. Why do we need to air the ball out into double coverage when we only need 2 yards... but its quite obvious the refs took the jacoby jones TD away, when it was a TD and DEFENSIVE pass interference. The grounding was so obvious at the end of the game that i wont even comment...the only thing i can say is that we did not deserve to win today.

There is a lot of difference between the lingerie league (which a lot of the referees are from) and the NFL. There is a lot of difference between full-time NFL referees and 6th grade history teachers, insurance salesmen, assistant coaches of jr. high teams, which some of these replacement referees are. They're doing the best they can, but it looks silly and sad that so many games around the league in the past two weeks (this one included) have to stop play for 5-10 minutes just so the referees can understand the proper ruling on the field. It makes the NFL look like a joke when you have to stop play to have another official run onto the field from the sidelines because the ones on the field don't understand what they're doing. It's also bad that you have coaches who can't question those referees without losing money out of their pockets by way of fines. They pretty much have to just stand there and take it.

To be fair the Refs were horrible calling on both teams. There was so much holding and PI and pretty much every other foul in the book that was just ignored. I think they were more interested in where they were ordering dinner than actually watching the game. The NFL should be embarrassed by that mess.

either way it was a physical game.
Good luck going forward.
Heck the Cards beat the pats in NE.
Its a long season and no one in your division is running away from your team.

yes we did get screwed, i have to be honest everyone is used to a little bit of missed calls and mistakes, but so far this year there are SOOOO many mistakes and SOOOO many mised calls and just amature refs who clearly dont even know the rules.
It has made football this season almost unwatchable. The refs ALWAYS make mistakes but their mistakes rarely change the outcome of a game, so far this year alone i have seen at least 2 games who's outcome was changed by bad reffing and this is one of them.
I hate having refs determine outcomes of games when the mistakes they make are so often and so blatant......whatever they need to do to get the real refs back on the field they need to do it most rickytick before the fans revolt

I told my son when it happened that the phony Jacoby Jones pass interference call that cost us a touchdown
was gonna cost us the game. And it did.

It's not like he pulled a Roddy White .Remember that push off?

I just don't understand how there was not one DPI call all game and then suddenly there is an OPI at the very end when the defender is grabbing the WR and isn't even looking at the ball.

speak for yourself. this is the second game i saw determined by bad play calling by the refs. as much as i love NFL, i simply can not watch it any more this season until the refs get back,,,,,,im getting WAY to upset watching games now because im not watching 2 teams fight it out, im watching the which side will win because the refs make the most mistakes in their favor....thats not NFL Football to me and i wont support it......its a travesty and any self respecting true fans would boycot this abomination.

That was a shameful no-call.

When your QB plays like a pile of steaming crap the refs cost you nothing. Flacco had Pitta wide open and threw it in the first row.
its a lot harder to make that throw when you've got a defender right in your face and you cant step into your throw... not the best excuse, but i think that phillies pass rush really effected the outcome of this game.

Yeah, the pass rush and man coverage butchered us. You can look at our schedule and see which games will be hard (namely Houston) and which will be easy. Namely New England.
I forgot, kind of easy to do so considering there were numerous calls and no calls that pisssed me off today. i agree with the guy above, im suppose to enjoy watching the ravens on sundays but with these refs... kind of hard.

refs sucked but im not going to sit the game on that our offense came out completely different in the second half. Alot of calls made say what the heck but that Jacoby TD called back blew my mind.
