Purple Punishment

Save States

6 posts in this topic

Ive known about them for years but never really bothered with them. So the other night I say what the hey and try one. Unbelievable how people can start games completely maxed out on everything.

As a gamer I think they are useful tool if you ever get stuck on a game and cannot progress nor go backwards. On the flip side, I think it ruins the whole experience of earning, grinding, and working hard at a game. I'm an RPG player so my logic on save states is based on my favorite genre.

What do you guys think about them??

Never used them. In RPGs, I just buy a crap ton of Potions and fight everything before the main boss until I feel im at a suitable level.

I try to earn everything myself.

The only time when I might use cheats or any sort of advantage is if I'm just messing around casually with a game. Otherwise, I try to play honestly before resorting to shortcuts.

Cheats in anything are a 3 fold problem for me , one its subverting the game , 2 ruins the satisfaction of figuring it out , 3 its lying to myself

yeah it basically drained the fun away from the game for me. the feeling of earning and making it your game is taken away from the begining of the game.

I don't do save states but I do the "Matilda trick" in Suikoden 2. You can push away this wall and level up with Humphery and Futch at a low level
