Week 2 - Baltimore Ravens at Philadelphia Eagles

The play-calling! Seriously! Who's decision was it to stop the no huddle, hurry-up offense that worked so well against the Bengals, last week?

This game reminded me, so much, of the Jacksonville game, last year. Our offensive line was beat on nearly every snap and Joe Flacco had virtually no time to step-into pocket and get a pass off. Plus, the mediocre selection of plays...

Don't get me wrong, on the other side of the football, Dean Pees's defense schemes, while giving-up a lot of yards, is working to the point where the Ravens are still getting turnovers and ending drives in their red-zone. Sure, Baltimore's secondary played-off the receivers and wanted Michael Vick to beat them with his arm, but it was mostly successful. There were even some nice gang sacks.

But, the damn, offensive play-calling! I "hate" to jump onto the bandwagon, but Jim Caldwell should be the offensive coordinator and Joe Flacco should, then, make the offensive run smoothly. I just hope John Harbaugh does what Brian Billick did in 2006 and fires his friend/offensive coordinator...

Which, sadly, sounds eerily familiar to a situation from last year. A situation where a Ravens wide receiver had a touchdown, that was taken away, which would have been (more than likely) a game-winning score...

Honestly I would love to watch the tape and see if they went back to their scheming roots on offense with the non complex 9 routes offense. All I know was our receivers weren't beating anyone.

yeah.........in the first half, the game was really a tale of two halves, which luckily or unfortunately is the way most Ravens games seem to go.

They were getting held pretty bad.

I know, know. But, still: Both are extremely disappointing outcomes, regardless. Whether it's Lee Evans holding onto the football for just split-second and either the refs not calling a TD or Evans not being able to hold onto the football, long enough, OR the refs taking-away Jacoby Jones' touchdown for a ridiculous "push-off", it's tough as a fan.

If Pollard doesn't get hurt, and the refs don't completely blow that offensive PI call, we win this game easily. I'd protest this game.

With that being said Joe missed Torrey on a sure touchdown. And he had a head scratching INT. It affected the game. I'm not going defend his play this week. The frustrating thing is even though Vick had terrible mistakes & really didn't play that well he had receivers who were getting open so he was actually capable of moving the ball.

Mark My words, if we don't make it to the show this year!! Cam Cameron's Time With Us Will Expire. I Promise, Somebody Will Have To Take The Fall And Coach Hardbaugh Is One Of The Best Young Football Minds In The Game, So It Won't Be Him.

Oh And Dean Peeves This Is Not New England!! You Are Driving A Bently On Defense, Act Like It. Dialing Up Those Old Conservative Scheme's Won't Make You Any Friends This Way Get It Together.

My Last Points:

Defense has to do something to stop the run. They looked a little better than last week, but we're just not the same after losing Redding and JJ.

Backfield was average. Reed's still a ball magnet/hawk and Cary Williams is still the red-headed step child. And Jimmy played alright, but missed a huge tackle. No excuse for the Maclin TD and all the times their TE was wide open

O-Line had a good start but in the 2nd half they just couldn't get a push. And some of Joe's incompletions was their fault. The fumble was all Oher's fault. Someone asked why Joe didn't just take the sack. That's because the guy came from his blind side and couldnt see

Play-calling was horrid. Passing on every 3rd and short is terrible. They didn't even try to run. We paid Rice all that money and didn't even use him. I expected to see a heavy dose of Rice due to the "shut down" corners of Philly who got away with holding all game.

Joe Flacco played pretty bad. He was pressured, but the last two passes of the game were horrid.

Final point: Replacement refs. Asomugha had his hands on Jones while the ball was in the air. Jones was just trying to get out of his clutch and they called a PI. And then they let them get away with the hold on Torrey Smith on another deep pass. But it took a team effort to lose this with some help from the refs. Bottom line, we need to get better.

I don't know, man: Ever since the offensive line collapsed on Baltimore's first drive of the game (and Flacco got hit and fumbled), I saw it as a long day. Sure, the o-line created a lot of great running lanes for Ray Rice, but on passing situations? It was another story.

I mean, what about that third-down situation where the pressure came from the outside, on the right? Where the Eagles managed to even beat Ray Rice's block and Joe Flacco had to run out of the pocket?

I just saw the offensive line getting beat way TOO much, today. I hate to say it, because a football team's offensive lives and dies with the o-line, but it just wasn't pretty out there.

Yeah I miss Suggs, JJ and Redding big time. I can only pray our injuries from this week aren't too bad. We need Pollard back to scare Brady

5 3rd and 2 yards ... and you NEVER even look at Ray Rice running the ball. Beyond terrible play calling. Almost no play action, which is what was pulling the line backers against the Bengals. I just don't understand the play calling here.

Also, I never thought Vick fumbled the ball in the red zone, but am I wrong that he was still within the tackles and there was no eligible reciever anywhere near that ball - i.e. Intentional Grounding. Now I know that ultimately they should have played better such that bad/no calls shouldn't have a major impact, but he was being sacked and threw the ball, not even back to the line of scrmage!

Who??

I'm certainly peeved that the defense played as poorly as they did but I won't go as far as to appropriately change the DC's last name

[/quote] well ray missed his block and ryan was able to make the play defense lost this game my friend it use to be a time if we could just put 17 points on the board the defense could add 14 more schemes and energy right now we just got conservative style of play

Honestly, this game felt as disheartening as the 2010-2011 AFC Divisional Round game against the Steelers. Heck, the overall story of those games played out very similar.

Let's just hope this game is a game the Ravens look back on and is used to propel the rest of their season.

The refs really railed us in this one. Critical drive sustaining calls left on the field. I'm going to get drunk and other things now.

Which was a huge issue. I said the same thing that second down play last drive should had been a draw.

We need to let cam go.
