Week 2 Discussion (other games)

I hate to say it (well, in terms of being a member of The Flock, it's a great thing to say), but I always had the cut feeling that Stephen Gostkowski was NOT a clutch kicker and could never replicate what Adam Vinatieri did better than everyone else.

See, being a Ravens fan in Massachusetts, I've had my fair share of "arguments" with fellow Patriots fans. One thing I always said was that Gostkowski was nothing "special". Sure, by just being a football fan, it's not easy to downgrade a NFL player like that. Obviously, I got belittled when other people would retort back, saying he puts up great stats. Okay... his stats are "great" because he plays on a football team that scores a lot. So, he gets a bunch of +1s and, whenever New England doesn't score a TD, Gostkowski comes to kick what are essentially chip-shots.

It might have taken seven years, but, besides his overtime game-winning kick against Baltimore in 2010 (* Sigh *), I don't think he has ever been put into a position to be clutch. And, today, I was able to rest my case...

I just wish the Jets could pull out today's contest. Already one of my Steeler co-workers has quipped something about our loss. Steeler bandwagoners are an obnoxious bunch.

Arizona & New England Tied at 6 at the Half!

Panthers up on the Saints 21-13. Cleveland keeping it close against the Bengals, down by a Touchdown.

Was afraid to look at yahoo after the 1pm games but wasn't as bad as I thought. All but 1 person missed the upsets (at least some of them), another rough week of picks.

Oh snap... Tom Coughlin and Greg Schiano almost went at it!
[/quote]

That was awesome, can't belief he defended his players on that crap saying I teach my guys to play hard tell the end of the game. Insane to bullrush when they are taking a knee.

They're obnoxious because at least 50% of their fan base (or about 90%, in terms of the people who roam the internet) have only witnessed two of their championships, but, yet, they "claim" their team reigns supreme because the Steelers have six Super Bowl titles. In fact, has anyone else ever thought of this?

I mean, it's like Yankees fans who "like" the Yankees only because they have won 27 World Series titles. I just find that to be bogus, because other than their five titles since 1996, and maybe the ones the two they got in the 1970s (if said person was around back then to witness it), I don't find the logic to be going-around, acting like you were apart of all their championship-winning teams as some kind of self-redeeming quality to make-up for your boring life.

Like, I, myself, am waiting to see the Ravens win a Super Bowl. I remember watching Super Bowl XXXV, back in 2001 (when I was a kid), but I was only just getting into football around the time, so I can't say I was apart of that team as a fan. You know what I mean?

Agreed, I'll be dreading work tomorrow if the steelers win while the ravens lose. Ravens fans out number the steelers fans but man are they loud & ready to talk smack.

Exactly. And when those bandwagon Steeler fans start crowing about the 6 rings, they don't have a comeback when I mention that it doesn't put them in the same category as the Canadiens, Yankees, and Celtics as having the most league championships. It seems they need to be reminded that that distinction goes to the Packers. I have yet to hear a comeback from them on that!

Billy Cundiff, lol. Why even have him try a 60+ yarder???? It was so wide right from the get-go it had no chance.

It's nice to know "thou-whom-shall-not-be-named" is still doing the same old, same old when it comes to kicks over 50 yards...

My stepbrother wrote his Facebook "(guess what word goes here) St Louis and their Rams."

I wrote back "yeah, your kicker just can't make a last minute field goal... oh wait, that's why we got rid of him."

"And you lost to the Eagles, sorry not sorry."

"...At least the Eagles have had a winning season in the past 5 years. You lost to THE RAMS."
