On a personal note, I really need to get to NY to see the construction of the One World Trade Center. I wanted to see Ground Zero to gain a better understanding of what I was fighting for in the mid east deployment after deployment but never got the chance.

I visited the pentagon memorial and went on a tour inside of it to where the plane hit. Some hair raising feeling you get.

I live less than 20 miles from Shanksville. I went for the first anniversary. Very emotional. Very sad.
All the innocent lives taken that day are heroes to me.

I was a sophomore in college at the time. I turned on the television in the morning before heading for class, and I watched the second plane hit. I was numb, and I instantly called my mother on the telephone. There are certain times in your life when you yearn to hear the calming voice of your mother, and that was definitely one of them! Classes were canceled for that day, and I learned later that night that a boy in one of my classes lost his uncle, who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald. To this day, his family has still not found his uncle's body. So sad, but God's a good God, and beauty has risen out of the ashes!
