I know alot of fans the past few years wanted cam fired, but do u guys feel the same now? It is cam's playbook and i thought he prepared joe well for this season and with joe's success i think we should show cam some love too....

He called three end arounds on the second possession alone and what looked like a HB pass later on. Other than that, pretty good night. Just don't get too cute with the play calling.

I'm still what you would classify as a hater. When given an entire offseason he always seems to call a solid game. It's when the plan doesn't pan out that his true colors are exposed. I'm still a doubter.

There are major differences between last season and this one however, I will point out that Cam called a masterful game versus the Steelers only to return to his same old vanilla playbook the next week.

I do not hate Cam, I don't even know him. I hate his play calling. I still hate his play calling. The plays may be Cam's, but it is Joe out there making the calls on what plays to run when, and that is what will make all the difference this season. However, I will revisit this thread if we abandon our up tempo style and return to Cam's iron fist next week. I will also break down and cry. I know, TMI there, but just sayin'.

Gruden and Tirico pointed out several times that it was Flacco's numerous audibles that consistently put us in good situations / matchups.

He won't get credit. They will call out the Joe haters but won't admit that most of them hate Cam.

I don't hate anyone on this team, not even Tandon Doss....but that's for an entirely different thread.

Cam prepared Joe well and even more noticeably; he prepared Joe's weapons to get better separation.

I liked the play calling, only two things bother me....

1) rice 10 carries when hes averaging over 6 each. But i guess there was no need really...just think he should of seen a bit more carries as he was running very well

2) and reverse to boldin? Twice? I love the guy be has no speed...thought that was odd

When Flacco is scorching you, stay with the hot hand...I'd rather have a 15 yard completion than a 6 yard run

LoL look i said many times if Doss doesnt show up this year then he is on the bubble during the offseason..also i said streeter should be following Doss and Boldin around to learn behind Boldin so streeter can jump Doss next season and be behind Boldin...lol sorry but he hasnt showed me anything and i stand by that.

I know they wont, but cam is a hero behind the shadows and i guess most dont see that but oh well..i gave credit to cam during the pats game and that 92 yd drive to beat the steelers...but i guess the no huddle is cam's specialty but regarded as a offensive genius he just needs the right players and we got them now...jacoby looked good as the third receiver though

He is the offensive coordinator we need, not the one we deserve.

Bring this up after 6 games then we will talk
[/quote]

Truth. He called a good game week 1 last year and then went back to the usual crap. Getting some of the control out of his hands with the no huddle will help, but one week does not redemption make.

I actually liked the reverses on the no huddle this game. But I give more credit to Caldwell to the success our offense had tonight. Joe made alot of changes at the LOS and made a bunch of good reads and adjustments.

Cameron did good though, he let Joe do his thing which is really good.

Dear Cam,

Just stay out of our way.

Seriously though he's been doing a good job since the pre season. Notice no one has really been mentioning him which is a good sign.

Cam's playcalling was pretty spot-on tonight. Let's see how we feel about this a few weeks down the road though. I remember seeing some fancy and different stuff in last season's opener as well, just as we did tonight, so let's see how the gameplan changes as we go on. I really do think Flacco has taken control of the offense, and perhaps having more confidence through a QB coach in Cadwell has allowed Joe to really take over.

Cam hater here, and to answer the OPs question YES. Still hate him. It wasn't Cam that won that game it was an unrestrained Joe. A finally unrestrained Joe. After 4 years of the idiot micro-manager calling plays, an unrestrained Joe.

But....if he continues to keep his mouth shut and continues to let Joe run things, I would not be opposed to him keeping his job. So long as he continues to stay out of the way and let Joe win games.

I also agree with other posters, this win wasn't about Cam it was about Caldwell. Suddenly the offense has changed...whats different from last year....oh yeah Caldwell. Fact of the matter is, I just do not trust Cam.

Honestly it's the first game, I have been a person that wanted Cam Fired for lack of route diversity, play calling. Watching last night made me feel like Caldwell called the no-huddle and Cam called the End-Arounds lol.
In all seriousness as I watched Flacco make quicker decisions and his attention to detail on pump fake, Play action fakes, looking off the safety I was thinking about the articles during the Summer where Caldwell talked about working with Joe on fine details to improve technique and how Joe talked about the need for a QB coach the previous season.

I couldn't agree more with every thing said by you. I too feel like the offense has struggled due to Cams mismanaged, play calling, poor use of personnel within packages etc. I mean Cam has built up 4 years worth of frustration for me, and like I previously said " I feel like the only plays I know 100% that Cam called are the End-Around runs" other than those I consider Caldwell as the impactful person... I just hope they continue to run "no huddle, let Flacco audible etc when he sees something in the defense , and keep ray rice involved because I don't want to see a Jaguar or Seattle game where Rice gets 7 carries 12 yards "

I've never been a Cam hater. There have been times that he's frustrated me, but I've always maintained that he is a decent OC, he just needs weapons in his offense. He has weapons now. Also, football is one of those things where people know different things, and you're constantly learning from them. Cam may have benefited from working with Caldwell. There were still a ton of deep throws, so Cam still has his influence, but Caldwell's influence has helped make a more efficient offense. Having competent WR's helps too.

I guess all hope is lost for some of you guys...we used the no huddle a few times last year, caldwell wasnt here for that!!! now when we want to use it more yall say its because of caldwell? No they just put two and two together and real comfortable with joe...it seems like every year joe is able to take the next step, last season they gave joe the chance to audible if he didnt then thats on him...and i guess everything caldwell did last year or as a OC goes out the window huh? Caldwell sucked as a HC and a OC but you guys still say he is to blame? the guy lucked up on Manning but lets not forget that he didnt prepare Manning is whole career Manning was already a Vet when Caldwell started with him so you guys give caldwell too much credit, undeserve credit

As Gruden pointed out, we ran successful plays when we had Torrey fake an end-around for some play-action last year. This year we knew they'd be ready for the fake so we ran the actual end-around and it worked. Give Cam credit. Those plays worked (except the one Boldin fumbled) and it opened things up for actual play-action.
