I missed part of the game where he was in because I had to pay my rent to my land lord and I was at my buddies house and had to walk home; however, I did see him get what looked to be a coverage sack with the assistance of Kruger, and McPhee (which is awesome because those are the guys we've been needing to step up!). I also saw him rush past Dalton, and was kind of upset because if he had spun off the tackle and came back, Dalton held onto it long enough to get the sack.

Anyone else notice any plays where he was involved that were either positive or negative?

Upshaw did not start, McClellan did. He looked alright when he was in and got the sack. Really he should be starting, we know McClellan isn't a quality OLB. The defense does need to get more pressure overall, and if he's ok now I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the start in a week or two.

He started slow but he sure did pick it up quick! By the 3rd qtr I was noticing #91 flying all over the place.

It was good to see. That is what he was known for. Maybe not the fastest but a high motor.

Definitely noticed him more in the second half. He was getting through the oline and had some good rushes on third downs. I like him and think he can be a real force for our D

He'll be starting before long. McClellan just can't hold up against the run.

No idea why you got negged for this but I fixed it lol

I completely agree. Our pressure seemed to correlate with Upshaw entering the game. Now, it is also possible that this is entirely coincidental and it was the fact that with the lead we held Pees felt more comfortable getting creative with the pressure. I do not want to see that first half defense anymore. I hope Pees has learned his lesson and is done with whatever experiment he was running.

We'll see, but Pees didn't run a blitz heavy scheme during his time with New England. Excluding his last year, they generally had good defenses, they just weren't blitz heavy. It'll be tough for him here though, I don't know of any Ravens fan who likes seeing a three man rush. It brings me back to the dark times, to the Mattison.

He was pretty solid, he had some nice stops. He made a couple key stops if I remember correctly.

About what I expected out of him for Week 1... I did predict he'd get a sack but it was a coverage sack. I really think he will continue to lose weight and develop into a quality player for the Ravens. If he develops.. And Suggs comes back strong... It might be a sad day but Kruger might get traded. I hope not though!,,

How many rookies get a half sack in their first game? Great milestone out of the way, now next week, just contain Vick.

He looked like a Raven. He played good fundamental defense. He got good pressure. He was physical. On a tight end screen, he jammed the tight end 5 yards in the backfield and busted the play. How many rookie OLB's/DE's do you see doing that? He's a smart player, and a technically sound player. Once his athleticism catches back up with his mental game, he'll be great.
