Reid is great at developing QBs, but his in game management including play-calling is poor.
I dont even understand how he got that rep. Other than Mcnabb, what notable qb did he help bring along? None that I can think of

I'm tired of hearing about how Philly has so much talent and they're just waiting to actualize it. Well it's been over a year now and still nothing. If it weren't for everyone telling us how great their offseason was last year they'd be a legit 8-8 team instead of a great team that just failed to live up to expectations - but this is the week it happens! That's why the Eagles are favorites this week.

Talent is only a small part of the equation. The majority of the equation is cohesion. You can have all the best players on a single team, doesn't mean they are going to gel. The Eagles don't look like they are anywhere near to being on the same page after that debacle in Cleveland last week.

We'll see what they've been doing secretly all week long to prepare for the Ravens.

Not sure how much he had to do with Farves growth but,Brett called Reid the computer of the offense.

This game sets up for RR.

I look for a game plan that shows the wide open, pass happy look from the beginning as a decoy and will include a lot of draws, screens and dump offs to Ray to slow the rush. If Joe can execute and stay unpredictable, Ray will have a HUGE game. When they then key on him, it will open up the rest of the field for the pass and the eagles D won't know what is coming next.

Sounds good, hope it pans out.
I said the same thing. Screens and a heavy dose of the run game. When we build a leash let the boys hunt and and the offense beat em with the play action and quick passes. Tire out the d line then take advantage. The leagues worst nightmare is Cam now actually listening to his players and letting Flacco run the show.

That's one of the things I love about football. Being a great player isn't about talent. Its about work ethic. Jerry Rice is far from the most talented receiver to ever play the game, but he busted his butt to become the best ever and succeeded.

Look at Ray. He was told he was too small.

Our pass rush needs to be there. If you can't beat the Eagles O-line, its going to be a long long day.

They havent showed us they can do it. We'll see if they finally show up early

Thats a great point, and we can look at the Orioles as an example of this idea. It's also why things like moneyball can actually work for a team as well.

I also feel that you don't really know a team, or that you don't know what a team is made of til you see how they handle a loss. If you watched the Packers vs Bears on Thursday then you saw a frustrasted Jay Cutler throwing his team under the bus, and a team that doesn't completely stand behind him. I think our loss to the Patriots in the AFCC only strengthened our resolve.

But like Ray says talk is cheap. We'll see how we look after they buckled up their chinstraps. I'll be at the Linc tomorrow, and I just can't wait for kick-off much longer!

DRC will keep up with anybody. Smith has a better chance of getting open deep against Nnamdi than Cromartie.

He's got a lot of technique issues.

You have your opinion and and I`d expect nothing less from a fan to have confidence that their team will prevail.
A win is a win and thats all that matters so everyone keeps bringing up the Browns well I remember in the 2010 season a very good Pats(6-1) team rolling into Clevland against a poor Browns(2-5) team and getting spanked 34-14.
Same could go for an undefeated Packers team@KC last year(sheet happens)
The bottom line is the Eagles drove the ball 91 yds down the field with just under two minutes and won a road game.
Win or lose theres no need to over react as its only week 2.
A win is a win, agreed. We speak of the Browns game because the Browns are historically a poor team, and the Eagles performance against them was not very good. If the Eagles were the elite team that you suggest they are, they should have easily beaten the Browns by a large margin. Admittedly, the Pats lost a game against the Browns, but we cannot judge the Pats by that one game as they have a huge body of work that proves their elite status, as hard as that is for me to admit. What do the Eagles have? They made a 91 yard drive against a very poor team to barely win the game after having numerous turnovers.

To be fair, lets not consider that game. maybe it was an anomaly. Lets look at their prior records.
In 2009 they were 11-5 and lost in the wildcard round. Respectable.
In 2011, they went 10-6 and again lost in the wildcard. Not as quite good as the previous year, but still respectable.
Last year, they ended the season with an 8-8 record. Much worse than the prior two years. I see a trend and it is moving downward.

I am not making some fanboy Ravenistic homer prediction that I think the Ravens will beat the Eagles. Statistically, the Ravens ARE a better team. They could still lose, but the odds are in their favor.

All he is saying is that their roster is stacked with talent, possibly more so than any other team...and he has a valid argument (although I disagree with it).

W - L record doesn't always indicate the talent level of a team. Remember our 9-7 year a couple years ago? I'd say we were much more talent than our record suggested.
Oddly, I have to disagree with you. The Eagles have no more talent than many other teams. The Ravens are one that I can name offhand as having at least as much talent. I do not think I have to list players names. Certainly they have more than some, but not all, or even most. And, while talent alone will not win games, it certainly gives the team a huge edge. Without some sort of talent on the team, you are not going to win anything.

LOL oh no they lead a 91-yard drive against the cleveland Clowns in their house and won? I'll quote Gruden from our game: "You know what I don't hear? I don't hear the Ravens shaking in their boots." You can brag when you've done that against Pittsburgh in their house like we did last year. You Eagles are a good team and there's the question about whether we can perform like we did last week consistently, but I know we can. We're gonna run it down the Eagles' throats and just when you think you have it figured out, we're gonna soar through the air and open it up against you with our TE's and Boldin. You think that was our Defense last week? You can bet Ray Lewis was the one who got us back to speed on D after half time. They have a chip on their shoulder and they're gonna be hungry. So have fun tearing your hair out when Vick throws pick after pick to Ed Reed, a real Safety.

Look, I know I come down on you guys LIKE A TON OF BRICKS, so I thought I would do something to help you guys out...yeah, that's right, I want to help. Ok, the way I see it, your team is SCREWED, I mean look at that BRICK you guys threw up, last week, it was terrible, and you guys know it. It's like I said, when andy named [s]p[/s]vick as the starter, I KNEW THAT ALL OF THAT HYPE, SURROUNDING HOW FAST A RUNNER HE WAS, WAS GOING TO FADE AWAY, AND WHEN ALL OF THE SMOKE AND MIRRORS WERE GONE, ALL YOU'D HAVE LEFT IS A GUY WHO WAS NEVER IN HIS CAREER, A GOOD PASSER. Now, [s]p[/s]vick is trying to MAKE HIM INTO A POCKET PASSER(which he has never been), AND THAT WILL, and WILL CONTINUE TO KILL THE eagles. Remember, I predicted that pvick would be BENCHED anywhere within the 5-7th week of the season, so while he is still THE CAPTAIN OF THE GOOD SHIP MINNOW, I thought we'd make a little Cold Hard Cash...I mean, that's the least I can do for you guys since YOUR TEAM [s]WASTED[/s] INVESTED SO MUCH MONEY ON MIKE.

Ok, here we go, THE BET IS HOW MANY PICKS WILL vickie THROW every week. We'll do this every week until reid decides to bench him. Then the next bet is a 1 time bet of what week mike will be benched. If you want to participate in the one or the other, you can, or if you're a HIGH ROLLER, you can bet in both categories, it's up to you. The benching cost $20, just sent it to my pay pal; and for the interceptions I'll sent that to another pay pal account to keep the money separate, that will cost $10...you can trust me with the money, it's not like I'm from philly. Contact me for my pay pal information...don't wait, we don't know how long mike will be playing, so act fast.

It's going to be a tough game... I know a lot of Ravens fans are saying we looked so good in the opener and they looked awful, so we will dominate and it won't even be hard, but that's probably far from reality. The truth is, the Eagles turned the ball over 5 times, came up negative in the turnover margin, and STILL won the game on the road. That means they can overcome adversity and mistakes. If they can limit mistakes, they can be a very good team.

But you also had the Browns & their QB turned it over 4 times and those turnover had a lot to do with Weeden. 1 turnover difference isn't that dramatic to overcome against a team you should beat. I agree though the Eagles are a very talented team and they have match ups that will challenge us greatly today.

Apparently the Eagles have a plan of being able to sub against our no huddle. This will be interesting.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.
I wouldn't expect you to know, but the Ravens have thrived in hostile environments. The nastier, the better. And Coach H. returning to Philly will provide for an additional rallying point.

May the best team win and there be no injuries.

This game will be close because the Eagles are at home and they won't throw as many interceptions this week. They have Vick, McCoy, a very good pass rush, and outstanding CBs. Still, we will find a way to win 31 to 28. Go Ravens!
