In all 3 faces of our defense, ST is the worse of all, and Harbs is a ST coach which makes him look bad.

In another word, if you are no good on ST, you no good on 53 man roster.

Laquan was given opportunity to play 4th RW slot cuz he can play ST really well...

Bobby was earned to take #3 RB but he's no used on ST...

I felt bad for Bobby and it's sort of unjustified for him; the man just lost his jobs......

even worse he lost his job to a scrub

It's like don't get too excited when you make to 53 man roster cuz you will be cut anytime soon.....

I think Pagano will pick him up cuz they need reliable RB; Donald Brown won't cut it....

Not really seeing where the "complaining" is coming from on this transaction. Okay, I get it: Bobby Rainey was impressive during the preseason, showing home-run ability, speed, quickness, agility, and being able to return kicks/punts.

But, let's be honest: Rainey was doing this against second-and-third stringers. It's highly doubtful that Bobby Rainey was even going to get much playing time as skill player (i.e. Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce being ahead of him at HB and Deonte Thompson and Jacoby Jones returning kicks/punts, respectively.), this season. As well, Anthony Allen is able to bring size to the halfback position as the emergency HB. Plus, as other members of The Flock have said, Allen has more experience as a special teamer.

Yeah, I hope the Ravens are able to hold onto Bobby Rainey as a practice squad member. I believe Rainey can develop into Baltimore's x-factor in a year-or-two, but for now, let's be real. Rainey wasn't going to get much playing time, anyways. Sometimes, a team just needs more contributors than raw talent, and that was why Allen was brought back...

All those people saying Rainey wouldn't have seen the field can probably change that, as allen ran multiple times tonight. Not a wise decision from my point of view.

Rainey wouldn't have even been active had he still been on the roster.

It is a little much to say he would have never seen the field. How many teams in the NFL have already used more than 2 running backs in a game. Sure, You have Rice, complemented by a more hard nosed runner in Pierce, and Rainey, being "little Ray" may be a similar style, but could have been a nice change of pace pass catcher. My money is on him finding work with another team like San Diego or Cleveland who needs that 2nd change of pace guy.

I was pretty shocked in deed.
First off for Rainey getting cut than for Allen being bumped up.

I was a big fan of Allen pre season of last year, but have not seen any simular productivity since then, although he didnt look terrible tonight.

I hope Rainey ends up on PS.

As a Bobby Rainey first, I absolutley hate this decision. I hope that Bobby gets picked up by a team that will actually give him a chance. Lost a little respect for this Harbaugh for waiting till the last minute to pull the rug out. Hope Rainey gets to make Ravens regret this decision.

He will get an opportunity somewhere if not our PS. This guy isn't gonna just disappear, too talented.

As for the "last minute rug pull", I can see where you are coming from but I don't think it was malicious. When they trimmed roster down to 53, they should of known what ST players they would have for sure. Who knows, maybe he had a horrible week of practice and Allen out performed him this week?

Smart move. Allen played a freaking great game on special teams, and had a few good runs in garbage time. Allen has more overall value to the team than Rainey. I think playing behind a better oline could help Allen a lot. I like Rainey, but Allen was needed yesterday and he performed well!

Kindle should have been shown the door he'll provide little to this team moving forward. This team looks too young at RB and has little depth. Another option would have been nice.

Wow. I hope this is wrong. Allen showed hardly anything in preseason. Rainey earned his spot over Allen.
allen a better special team player than Rainey which is why rainey was cut

When I saw Allen running down field on a kickoff I was like why is he playing then went online read Rainey had been cut....
Hope Rainey can be picked back up, I was big D.Berry guy but I admitted Rainey impressed me more , Allen was by far the worst RB in preseason. For his size and style of running, he goes down rather easy....

Allen's special teams tackle was beautiful but he's still tentative running the ball, he seems to have made a mistake dropping weight over the offseason as he's lost more power than gained speed.

Any news on Rainey?

This is actually shrewd because teams 53 are set. I think he clears and is placed on PS. We could see him back with Jah Reid on IR.

Allen ran well in garbage time though.

Allen had a great ST tackle yesterday, maybe he'll step it up knowing he was almost gone forever. I hope Rainey goes on PS because he did earn his spot and give him another season to develop and I want to see him back. He's got potential.

The fact that
Ray, Pierce and Allen all got carries tells me you're wrong
If Rainey was on the roster he would have gotten the touches Allen did. Ya know since every rb got to play

Allen was active because of ST. He just got lucky and got some carries since Pierce got hurt. Rainey wasn't going to play ST and would have been inactive had they decided to push off cutting him for a week.

Rainey was on the active 53, but you only get 45 on the gameday roster. So he probably wouldn't have been active because he couldn't cover on STs. Allen could. They went with Deonte instead of LeQuan at WR, which left a hole on the coverage team.
But that's still a loss because he was effective as a returner and as a runner. Let's hope he clears waivers.

And again if Rainey was on the roster and Allen wasn't
Rainey would have been active.

It's not rocket science.

Why would they have activated Rainey? What would he have done? Sat on the bench?

The reason they cut him is because he couldn't do kickoff/punt coverage on ST, while Allen could. Allen was active because he can play ST, not because he is a running back. Allen just happened to get some garbage carries because of the blowout and the fact that Pierce got hurt for a few plays.

I like Rainey, but he wouldn't have been active because he wasn't going to be able to contribute.

Suprised at this move considering connection between Rainey's school, Western Kentucky and Harbaugh (Harbaugh's dad won 1-AA National Championship at WKU). I don't recall Rainey getting many reps at all in ST coverage during pre-season. Mainly a returner and RB. Maybe Harbaugh never intended on keeping him and was just allowing Rainey to showcase himself for other teams. Allen was awful during the pre-season and earned nothing. Ravens will keep Rainey on PS as insurance if Rice gets injured. If that happens Rainey moves to #1 RB. If you noticed in pre-season Harbaugh had enough confidence in Rainey to allow him to pass block with Flacco in the game. That's the ultimate compliment, especially to an undrafted FA.
