Bobby Rainey waived

71 posts in this topic

According to Ravens twitter page. They waived Rainey to sign Anthony Allen. I don't understand why they wouldn't just have done this at cut day?

Word is that Rainey struggled mightily on ST in practice this week due to his size. The team loves Allen's ST work.

I just got the text alert about this and was quite confused. It's probably just reshuffling and Rainey isn't going anywhere but I don't like exposing such a talented player to poaching from another team...

Ugh, I liked Bobby Rainey as a talent similar to RR, good backup change-of-pace from Bernard Pierce. But if he struggles on ST, I can totally understand the decision.

My guess.. We couldn't fit laquan on The roster so we were short a st cover guy. Thus we needed to bring AA back in

Maybe shows how much confidence we have in pierce and deonte

My question is how the team didn't realize this in camp? I find it hard to believe Allen was getting all of the S/T reps then and Rainey was what, just working with the offense? In other words, if this is truly the explanation we are being given, how is it that the team didn't already know that he "struggled" on coverage or whatever and still made the roster then with how bad our special teams were last year (other than Koch)? I like Allen a lot, but he showed zero reason as to why he should have made the roster over Rainey...guess we'll see how this works out.

Rainey was returning kicks so he might not have gotten many reps as a blocker or in coverage. Rainey is a nice story but its doubtful he would have gotten much if any PT.

Dont like this move. Not fair to Bobby. He won that spot. He earned it.

Not how the NFL works.

ST coverage was pretty bad in the preseason. That has to be what this is about. Allen did make that nice pop on a defender in the 4th game.

In all 3 faces of our defense, ST is the worse of all, and Harbs is a ST coach which makes him look bad.

In another word, if you are no good on ST, you no good on 53 man roster.

Laquan was given opportunity to play 4th RW slot cuz he can play ST really well...

Bobby was earned to take #3 RB but he's no used on ST...

I felt bad for Bobby and it's sort of unjustified for him; the man just lost his jobs......
