Great story, but also brings to light how over moderated this site is compared to nfl.com.

He is a Raven, why isn't this in Ravens talk. Also find it funny that my link to a "what candidate is right for you" got shut down in seconds and this is still active...

Well this thread is about to be shutdown. Proud of Brendon and boy is that politician misguided.

Figured I'd get in while I could. Speak your mind, Brendan. You're correct when you say that as an American before a player, it's not just your right, but your DUTY to speak. Agree or disagree with him. That's fine.

If someone stopped being a ravens fan because of one players individual views, I say they're not part of the fan base I know and love.

Wow. How could they send a letter like that? What the heck are they thinking? lol

But even before this came out, BA was my most disliked Raven. Not just because his views, I really just never liked him. I do root for him on the field though, don't get me wrong. But if I had to name my least favorite, it would be him.

As of yet there is no issue with this thread, politics is divisive and it spills into the forums and this place is about Ravens Football, that being said what was Burns thinking ??????

Politics shouuld not cause people to hate each other or whatever. Everyone has the right to their opnion. Just like on twitter with brad jackson #50
me and him dissccussed politics but in the end do we hate each other. No he helped win us a super bowl.

Dick Cass and others in the organization seem to be backing Brendon's right to speak, as it should be since he's not doing anything to embarrass the Ravens or violate their rules.

I was turned off of BA after the game in St. Louis, but because of this, I'm willing to give him a second chance. There's nothing sweeter than seeing a bigot get shut down when trying to intimidate his victim.

I'm all for freedom of speech regardless of political, social and/or religious leanings as there is absolutely nothing wrong with difference in opinion, but this? it blows my mind that a politician would attempt to convince an employer to muzzle an employee.

~ Martin Niemöller

Whenever I see someone's personal freedoms being attacked, I am always reminded of this quote from Martin Niemöller. I ask that now, and in the future, that if you are fortunate to witness the oppression of a person, a group of people, etc. that you remember these words.

Althought BA is a single individual, he is being attacked and trying to be silenced. If people do not speak up for him, then just as mentioned above, there will come a day they you may need people to speak for your rights and there won't be anyone left to speak for you.

Absolutely. And I'm glad the Ravens are taking the right approach to it.

Lol, Vikings punter Chris Kluwe took it a bit further.

Yeah. I saw. He's my second favorite punter in the NFL now.

Lol I was trying to avoid posting links as the thread is in danger of being locked as it is. Kluwe is legit mad though.

It's just strange that a 72yo black man like Burns who in would have experienced some of the worst this country had to offer during the 50's and 60's can be so caught up in this old way of thinking, for all his years that repression has taught him nothing. Because of this people are not going to remember all the good he's done for our city and for the black community.
