Dude, I'm just tired of the back and forth. We're never gonna convince them that Mr. Modell was the great man that he was.

I'm just trying to accept it for what it is; that there are going to be some classless people out there and they're gonna be loud.

Exactly why I said to ignore them. Their words speak for themselves there is no reason to interact with them directly.

However, if people are offended that others would act this way - including our own - then I want to hear them speak up. My son browses this forum sometimes, and I want him to see that *MOST* people are decent folks.

That's fair, I guess. Guess I'm just not used to seeing topics like this one being discussed without it becoming a full blown argument from all parties.

[climbs on soapbox]

The internet is full of people who behave badly while hiding behind their firewalls. Since this thread is dedicated to Mr. Modell, why not focus on him instead of the ignorant behavior of others?

[off soapbox]

My personal preference is that we not "report" on what classless people are saying in other forums. It's not a rule that you can't discuss it, but I feel it just gives more importance to those comment than they deserve to let it carry over to here.

Links to and quotes of classless remarks will be removed, though.

Besides my friends and family, there have been several influences in my life that have brought me happiness by "strangers". Stan Lee, J.R.R. Tolkien, The Beatles and several other writers, artists, directors, Nintendo, Konami, etc. But my number one love in my life (hobby wise) is the time and energy I give the Baltimore Ravens. And I would not have met this love if it wasn't for Art Modell. Thank you so much for bringing a team to my state and introducing me to the game of football. Thank you for bringing in high character guys to run your team and thanks for putting the team in good hands when Biscottti became the majority owner.

It saddens me that he did not live to see himself go into the Hall but it does make me happy knowing he won a super bowl with us and that his favorite linebacker was at his bedside last night praying with him.

Thanks again for everything you have done for Baltimore and the NFL, my thoughts go out to your family and friends and the rest of the Baltimore Ravens who were close to you.

I know our players will wear the "AM" on their helmets or jerseys like a badge of Honor.

Don't pay any mind to the sour grapes coming from Cleveland. They are just too ignorant to realize that Art Modell never wished to cause hardship by moving the team, he knew that it was unfair to the fans but that it had to be done. I'm just glad every day that Baltimore was his destination and that we are all lucky enough now to enjoy what has blossomed into one of the best franchises in the NFL, fielding a team every season who gives us hope to see yet another Super Bowl championship for Baltimore.

Rest in Peace, Sir and may you FINALLY take your rightful place in the pro football hall of fame

I don't usually post on here, but I just wanted to thank Art for all the memories. I'll always be grateful to him for bringing us football back.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Modell.

The Modell family is all class. Art will be missed dearly in this city. He was a pioneer of the NFL, and it might not be where it is today without his vision and leadership.

Hopefully the Ravens will wear "AM" patches on their jerseys this season. Let's get Art his 2nd Super Bowl!

Art died at age of 86 which is he is dying with natural causes; living past 80years of age is god blessing...

I thank him for bringing a great football team to Maryland....he will forever be remembered in the heart of the Ravens organization and the fans....

I'm not surprised at some "convicts" laughing over his death cuz even as pure as "God" there is always a hater......

The best thing is just ignoring those idiots and enjoying what we're having......Monday night Football!..

It's a travesty that this man hasn't been inducted into the Hall of Fame yet.
Its even more of a travesty that the scumbags who actually have votes apparently are just as bitter as Cleveland fans. Now I know that there aren't enough Cleveland media people with a say to completely block his entry which means these guys have been soapboxing to their fellow voters AND actually getting their support, even though the whole process is supposed to be "objective."

Rest in peace Mr. Modell. I admittedly only became a Ravens fan back in '05 so I've had to read up and inform myself upon all of the incredible things you did for others in your life. Thank you for giving us a team that you and all of the fans can be proud of, it will never be forgotten. Hopefully some of these jerks lighten up and realize the good you did far outweighs anything negative and you will be enshrined where you belong.

God rest Art. He was a true visionary and pioneer of the game, and his contributions to the NFL and commitment to being a good person will forever ensure his legacy. A great man was lost today.

Arthur Modell was a great owner of a big part of the AFC North. It all started when he went out and scouted players like Jim Brown and made the Browns some what of a franchise... Then later, he became even bigger leaving Cleveland and entering into the Land of John Unitas. This is where I embraced Art, and his team and from then on became a loyal fan and have been a loyal fan ever since........

GO RAVENS!
RIP Art

I'm back to the forums for the season (as if anyone knew I left), but saw this horrible news tonight: http://es.pn/P1HFOG

Terrible news. I already see Cleveland fans ripping him on twitter. Hopefully he can pull through.

My condolences to the Modell family. It's a sad day for the NFL and an even sadder day for the city of Baltimore and Ravens football. Art Modell was a true visionary and an even better man.

R.I.P. Mr. Modell. Thank you for all your contributions.

What a bunch of embarrassments to the human race. Who wishes a man to be dead? They put football over everything, and that's why they are the laughing stock of the NFL. I'm sorry, but that sickens me.

That is the Art that will live on in the memories of many people in the Baltimore area.

While I have to admit that I'm still a bit shell shocked and saddened at this news, I am very happy that he lived such a long and fulfilling life; and when I say fulfilling, I am more refering to the people who had the honor of being in his life.
