Art Modell passes away

122 posts in this topic

I'm back to the forums for the season (as if anyone knew I left), but saw this horrible news tonight: http://es.pn/P1HFOG

Terrible news. I already see Cleveland fans ripping him on twitter. Hopefully he can pull through.

"Former #Browns owner Art Modell gravely ill in a Baltimore hosptial, WKYC's Jim Donovan reported tonight."

Hope this man gets well. We wouldn't be the Ravens without him. Prayers are out for him and his family.

I hope he pulls through. What always made me sick was how they kept snubbing him for the HoF. It doesn't sound good in the least though and given his age, I don't know.

So sad. :(

Really? Are they really trying to make light of a serious medical condition?

This truly is sad to hear, I hope he pulls through!

I had a fan reply "hahahahahahahaha..." when I mentioned how much good he did for this city. More the reason to hate Cleveland. Especially when, in the end, they HAVE A TEAM.

Clevelanders will be all over this. They will probably mock him to his graves. Maybe we can win one before he goes.

That makes me sick about Cleveland. As much as I can't stand the Steelers, I wouldn't wish death on any of them. I really hope Art pulls through and that he can witness us sweep Cleveland a second season in a row.

I have other ones telling me that 'technically, our super bowl is theirs too, so art did them a favor'. I'm baffled at the stupidity and senselessness of that city. Regardless of what happens with Art, he is up there with the sports icons in the city. I just hope he can make it.

Gosh I hope so, for everything he has done he deserves to see Baltimore win one more Lombardi Trophy. In fact if this is true, I would not be surprised if the Ravens come out and dedicate Monday's game to Art or the season if the condition does in fact worsen.

I'm going to keep him in my prayers until he is out of the hospital.

Dont even go on twitter if you dont want your blood boiling over. Wishing death on a human being is terrible. I hope we put a extra whooping on their [profanity deleted] franchise this year.

I had to stop reading those comments on ESPN...they were beyond disgusting! I know people have a right to their opinion, but that type of commentary is unjustified in light of the grave situation facing the Modell family. I am even more repulsed at ESPN's shamelessness in allowing it to go unfiltered. Is the anonimity of the internet completely void of basic human decency?

they're reporting his vital organs are failing. This is probably it for the old guy.
Guess his HOF bid will be posthumous after all (which is super whack)

Very sad news. My thoughts are with him and his family... as has been said he's done more for the city of Baltimore than mostly anyone else. Without him, we would not be posting on this board right now.

I'm actually lost for words after seeing some of those comments. All my best wishes go out to Mr. Modell and family during this difficult time.
