Ravens Verizon Wireless at stadium

22 posts in this topic

I am looking to get a new phone in 2 weeks.
I have been with AT&T for years now with no problems.
Question is- Is this Verizon Wireless at M&T Bank worth switching carriers?
Is it anything more than merely an enhanced signal?

You should switch to Verizon anyway... hahaha

There is a marked difference this season though; the signal strength is excellent. I could overhear people with other carriers complaining.

I have noticed that Mod 3.
I try to send text's and they die out. So, somehow Verizon blocks At&T's signal, eh? :D

I doubt Verizon blocks the AT&T signals so much as they just have special "Verizon Only" antennas in the stadium, and your standard antenna system doesn't have enough range to reach the non-Verizon customers in the stadium.

Not legal.

I've worked for Verizon and I can say that majority of the antennas in this country are Verizon related.

True, but one of the few areas of this country that they have little to no coverage in is exactly the area I need for my family plan. Also my company uses AT&T and I get a big discount through them. That means my work and personal phones are both on AT&T.

Well I guess I am going to check into Verizon then.
So just to clarify, there are no added 'features' to having Verizon in the stadium other than better coverage correct?

Ok. I can attest. AT&T coverage in the stadium is horrendous. Beyond awful. I was shocked. Not only couldn't I listen to the game on Internet stream or get stat updates on players, I wanted to meet up with a fellow flock member and I couldn't even make a [profanity deleted] phone call. Just stupid.

I have Verizon and had a ton of problems until after half time-- think about all the press that use the same bandwith to upload their stuff, I was sending pics to friends and couldn't and I could not get on the forums like I do at half time.

My bars were flying up and down, it would go from 3G to E to nothing. It was like the antenna was possessed.

Now that I think about it, I've been cruising at low key events (open practice, Monster Jam, soccer games). But when you put almost 80,000 people (including all the staff) in one small place, you run out of bandwidth pretty quick. Hopefully the stadium wide WiFi they put in next year will work well and open up some 3G/4G bandwidth.

My opinion, Verizon's iPhone is even better than AT&T's. I was able to send out messages from the game on Monday. I wasn't able to receive them very well though, which was strange. Scary when your babies are at home with the baby-sitter!

So. Barring tragedy you give the banks reception a thumbs up? :P

[/quote]Exactly! When my mom was sick before she died, I had to go in the concourse to get any signal--there is definite improvement.

I have 4G and can make calls sometimes, but data doesn't work. Can't even get the weather in there.

I'm in the exact same situation and whenever I try to log onto this place, I never can. I know people that have no problem with any of their phones' services (3G or 4G) and others who have no signal at all throughout the game. I always found this odd.

For the record, I too have AT&T but I've been hearing complaints from friends with Verizon as well.

The service in The Swamp (Gainesville) was more or less the same way. When I lived down there and attended Gators games, I would sometimes have to walk around and find a good signal. That was college even! The game of trying to find good service was more challenging than the game on the field most Saturdays!

Don't laugh, it happens.
My daughter was born exactly 8 years today. If you go back into your history books...that was a good Ravens football day! :D
Although the only reason I received the message to come home because my wife was in labor, was because I received a phone call while walking to go to the bathroom. My wife was a month early, and had I elected NOT to go to the bathroom at that time...I probably would have missed my daughter's birth.
So, sometimes cell phone coverage can be extremely vital. ;)
