What is our cap space number now, and why now to restructure bmacs contract? Is there someone Ozzie wants to bring in? ( pass rusher), or for flacco?
I hope for both that it'll make it an easy sign for Flacco and that with a trade offer we have the cap room to acquire an additional pass rusher.

Hmm don't know. I know that Big Mac has been a pain in the [butt] all offseason; not making the required weight, missing the first 2 days of TC. This restructure replaces some of his base salary with incentives. Who knows, maybe given his debt he'll realize he needs to work harder to meet these incentives and start playing to his ability. If we're lucky that is.

Actually, Ellerbe has done a good job so far in preseason. I have seen him get guys to stand up when running the ball against him. I have to say he has improved a bit. Hopefully he can stay healthy and do some of what he did before. My bigger issue with being up against the cap is freaking Ellerbe's salary of nearly 2 million, I understand that depth is poor but really ?
I'm also not a fan of his salary, though. Way too much. Then again, he has performed well as I said.
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Matt Elam, #32nd overall, 1st round pick!
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Arthur Brown #56th overall, 2nd round pick!
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Brandon Williams, #94th overall, 3rd round pick!

I guess you worded it better than me, his play has not been terrible but his salary is not fitting and he never deserved a second round tender, like any team in their right mind would give up half of that for him.
One bright spot is the Ravens are carrying just over 10 million in dead cap from Carr, Cundiff, Mcghee, and
Foxworth. That won't apply next year

Maybe we found a suitable pass rusher/o-lineman/st guy that we are in process of trading

McKinnie deserves that pay cut. He was out of shape coming into the camp to which he appeared late without any explanation. When the cut offer came up, which he should've expected he threw a public tantrum on the net.
The Ravens didn't behave much better either, making McKinnie this proposition in an opportune moment, when he had no time left to test the market leaving him with no leverage.
Usually the Ravens are a classy organisation filled with good people in both managment and on roster. All of this is very out of character for everyone and makes them all look unprofessional.

1. Creating Space to Sign Flacco to a long term deal (most likely) - problem with this is the manner in which it was done.
2. The Ravens are about to make a trade and bring in a player - more likely imho.
The manner in which it was done, leads me to believe that this wasnt to create emergency space or to create a little more cap to sign Flacco. The amount of cap created was not enough especially given the risk involved in how it was done.

I hope there is a good reason for it or that this atleast is the last time something like this happens.

It's my understanding that he had been tweeting about a "decision" for days so I disagree that the Ravens sprung this on him, as it seems to us on the outside, at the last minute before the deadline. In any event, even if that was the case, given the issues with his weight, missing the start of camp, I don't think it reflects badly on the organization.

Neither... Breathing room. They had to be under the cap before four yesterday
I thought we were... on profootballtalk website we had about 5 mil or so... injury settlements wouldn't eat that much; anyway if there was/is a move, it has to be done either today or tomorrow the latest in order to bring peace of mind for joe (not that he said he needs it) before the season starts (like our owner promissed a year ago to have him signed before this season beginns) or some time (3-4 days) for a new player to accomodate before dressing up Monday night

yea that was only the top 51 salaries though. We have 2 on pup and 6 irs. Plus the two lowest salaries when you cut to 53. They all have to be under the cap. So we are essentially having 61 players to get under the cap plus 8 practice squad players.I thought we were... on profootballtalk website we had about 5 mil or so... injury settlements wouldn't eat that much; anyway if there was/is a move, it has to be done either today or tomorrow the latest in order to bring peace of mind for joe (not that he said he needs it) before the season starts (like our owner promissed a year ago to have him signed before this season beginns) or some time (3-4 days) for a new player to accomodate before dressing up Monday night
We had to get all 61 plus 8 under the cap by 4 oclock yesterday. Coincidence? Can't see it, we needed that one million too get under the cap or for breathing room incase someone got injured, like Sean c and we need to sign someone
