I was at the gym doing squat jumps when I felt something go in my knee. I was still able to do my workout but it was really hard. Anyways, I have looked at the anatomy of the knee and it doesnt look like the ACL is in the area I felt it in. More around where the Tibia arrow is pointing on the outter knee.

Took a week off of anything legwise. Went and did a very modest weight like 400lbs on the leg press. When I went to push it up to unlock the machine, I felt some jumpiness in that spot but no pain in my leg. I did one legged squats as well to test my stability and it was all there. Im planning on seeing a doc soon but I wanted to know what our community has on this issue?

Any pain, walking pain? I havent had any of it

How often are you working out your knees? What kind of weight are you normally using? Do you have a tendency to want to twist your legs as you go from the squat position to the extension?

Without actually witnessing it, not much to go on, but I'd have to say you're experiencing a meniscus tear or "Runner's Knee".

If it is a meniscus tear (more severe case of Runner's Knee), you should have some light to moderate swelling, tenderness when you press it and possibly some "popping" or "clicking" when you move it.

You could be looking at some time off from your workouts, worst case scenario is of course surgery; they'll either cut out the torn tissue, repair it or replace it.

Hope this helps, but I also hope for your sake that it isn't this severe.

No swelling and no discomfort. Aside from my knee giving out last week doing the jumps and the jumpiness in my knee, nothing much going on. No tenderness or swelling at all.

Like I said I could still do my squat jumps but it wasn't easy going from the squat to standing. Normal weight for me on leg press is 700 and squatting 315. Thanks for the info btw.

Really does sound like Runner's Knee, or a slight meniscus tear. Or it could've just been minor pain from the load bearing joint getting overworked.

It'll be interesting to see what the doc says.

Please get that checked out as soon as you can. All it takes is one bad injury to require surgery. And the longer you wait, the worse it can get.

I have bad knees, but my left one is a case of my ex kicking me in it as hard as he could, and I couldn't walk on it for several hours and it kinda looked like a rotten orange for a while (both in color and size). And since I didn't get it checked out ASAP, it's just gotten worse and worse over the years and now it's a super fun daily issue.

Now, if you can walk on it and there's no swelling, you're probably pretty good. I'm inclined to believe that with most ACL/MCL/PCL tears, you limp at best. I'm gonna agree with Malk and say it's a meniscus issue. But only a doctor can tell you for sure. As much as I'd like to think I'm House, I'm not even a nurse. And if that week off helped, take another. Don't push it.

Sounds like a meniscus, be kind to your knee, ice it and don't carry babies or expensive dishes lol
Please get it checked out because it only cause more arthritis and other issues the closer you get to 40.
. If its a small tear they will usually tell you to take it easy for 4 to 6 weeks and it will heal on its own, you will not know without the ortho doc.

I have 2 really crappy knees lol, I've popped my acl getting my leg tangled in the sheets smh.

Be careful man knees can be tricky. I remember in high school during football practice a lineman rolled over my leg when were hitting the sled. It hurt when it happened similar to yours but I was able to finish practice and it didn't put me out for any more practices down the future. I did notice my knee would pop when I walked for a good month. I went to a couple sports therapy specialists and they didn't know what was wrong with it . No doctor could diagnose me with anything. I finished the season but as the years went by I noticed my hamstring becoming extremely tight on the same side of my knee that still wasn't 100%. I have all my power still but flexibility has really taken its toll. I cant bend like I used to. I think If i would have stretched my hips and hamstrings out daily some of the tightness could have been avoided .I would stretch it out brotha and take it easy. Don't overwork yourself whatever you do. When your knee starts to hurt and weakens other parts of your body try to compensate for it.
