Blackbirds Rule

Would you take Garrard as a backup?

40 posts in this topic

With David Garrard getting cut today would you want the Ravens to sign him as a backup? I think he would be an upgrade over Tyrod. If the Ravens were to upgrade the back up QB spot I think Seneca Wallace should get a look. Seneca would be cheaper he can run and is fairly accurate. I read another topic about Hoyer, I don't know what his value is if he's worth the signing. We don't want anything to happen to Joe but we should have confidence that our second string qb could help us if we needed it.

I'd rather invest the money used to sign him to extend Flacco. That's not even taking into account the roster spot we would need to free up to allow this move. I am personally against having 3 QBs. I think we're good with the 2 we have.

Yeah I think Joe will be resigned before the month is out. When he is signed that might also open up some salary cap room if we have the contract structured that way. With the extra cap room we may make a free agent pick up or a trade. I think we'll give our olb's 2 weeks to see if we get pressure on the qb before we pullthe trigger on a trade to shore up a consistent pass rusher to go along side Suggs.

Heck no, Taylor can get it done if need be.

Look, I'm not for picking up either of these guys for several reasons but not one of them is that I think Taylor can get it done. He's shown no indication that he is game ready. If Joe goes down and we have to rely on Taylor for anything more than clean-up in a game with a substantial lead, we are done.

To me he has, he has thee best pocket awareness and he keeps plays alive. Its not his fault the o line can't protect. Dude can ball.

I like him over Painter, but my gut tells me to stick with Tyrod for some reason, even though he looked a little shakey in the preseason. I do pray that Joe has an elite year and stays healthy throughout the season.

Stick with Taylor. The one thing most people agrees on with Cam, is that he is one of the best o-coordinators when it comes to winning with inexperienced QB's... Cam can make sure Taylor keeps us afloat if Flacco (God forbid) were to miss a game or two... If Flacco goes down for an extended period, we're toast either way...

No Thanks! We have two Qb's on the roster with a 3rd on the PS. No need to shake anything else up this close to the season, unless its for a proven pass rusher.

NO! Why? We have two capable back ups, that we wont need. I was a bit shocked when they got Painter, all I could remember is how he stunk in Indy.

If Flacco goes down the season is over.

If the Dolphins, which HAVE NO STAR PLAYERS (at all), let Garrar go, it's a wash for the man.

So my answer is no.
If he was healthy I would rather have him than Taylor, but I am not sure if he is healthy or ever will be.
His pocket awareness is pretty good for a young guy, but his decision making and deciphering defenses is anything but good.

Would I mind it, no, but Tyrod is sufficient and proved he can work with the no huddle, and there are more important things we should spend our money on especially this off season
