I actually dont see this as a bad move, bad timing yes, but definitely not bad. Imo KO more then held his own at RT and i've been saying Oher is a much better Lt then most give him credit for.

Also the no huddle uptempo style really suits Oher well at LT. Our new starting Oline has basically been our starting unit all training camp
My first reaction was like nooo I like our line. The more I thought about it the no huddle offense takes away the pass rush. Oher is more than capable as a LT and Osmele will have a learning curve but he'll grow into the starting RT very quickly. If we can use this money for McKinnie for a proven pass rusher to go alongside Suggs when he comes back this is a very risky but great decision. Ramon Harewood looked good at tackle and Jack Cornell probably comes back onto the roster.

I like Osemele dont get me wrong i just dont think he is ready at Tackle from watching the rams game he gave up 3 pressures and a sack to long in one series. i watched long beat him multiple times. this is all IMO he is promising but not at tackle right now maybe later in the season but i hope im wrong.

Every rookie lineman was getting owned across the pre-season.

Just got home from classes to see this. Wasn't checking twitter like I normally do throughout the day, so i'm really surprised with this. Wow.

Someone on this site linked stats months ago, Oher gave up less sacks/pressure in 2010 than mckinnie did in 2011, and Oher is atleast 3 times better in run blocking, I really like this move tbh, KO needed to be on the field, one of our best lineman already.

Is there a link to confirm this?

Absent from training camp, because of "issues", constant contract talks in inopportune moments, returned to training camp out of shape, had to play a while with second stringers and this concerning why? Give K.O. a chance, he is young and hungry as in hungry for success and not hungry for Donuts.

If he stays or goes, this is bush league that reports are being released before final word. The disadvantage of Twitter.

The "reports" all stem from the player...

Does anyone else think that the Ravens wanted to cut his salary because he was only going to be a backup? Maybe they decided their best OL had Oher at LT and Osemele at RT and they refused to pay a backup starter money.

But retweeted by the organization. Unless it's official "The Ravens Official Twitter" page shouldn't retweet it.
McKinnie was the starter. He might not be a popular player but he's our best option.

You know Garrett Downing and Ryan Mink do the Ravens tweets, right? They were in the dark as much as we were.

On record as saying this will get worked out in some fashion and McKinnie will be a Raven for the 2012 season.

Probably but they still need Bryant for depth. If Williams goes down that at least allows us to still be comfortable with Osemele playing guard, Oher back at RT, and Bryant at LT. If we don't have him who comes in? You can't risk counting on aging players who just got off an injury to last a whole season.

We are overpaying McKinnie and the FO knows it. Looks like they're trying to clear room for some signing or a new Flacco deal. my guess is the latter.

Since McKinnie saw a lot of time on the 2nd team this preseason, I'm guessing they're comfortable with Williams. I'm not. I know KO has impressed them. We still haven't seen anything out of Jah Reid either (sidelined because of injury, then tried to come back too soon and sidelined again). And Oher has been great so far at LT.

I don't think they trust McKinnie's conditioning to hold up in a mostly no-huddle offense, and they might be right

My gut says this as well though, not sure I actually WANT him to remain at this point.

Ravens have not released LT Bryant McKinnie yet, but told him they intend to do so after unable to agree on a reduced salary...

They could have a change of heart before today's waiver deadline or work out a late deal, but that's highly unlikely now. Oher goes to LT

10 Min ago. Jason is usually spot on with his info. It is, what it is!

They want him to take a 50% pay cut according to Aaron Wilson.
They should. KO impressed this off-season, they have leverage.

Actually, Aaron Wilson just reported it would only be 2.2 million. Still a nice chunk though
