Brady Quinn-QB-Browns Nov. 3 - 5:02 pm et

ESPN reports that Brady Quinn will start at quarterback for the Browns Thursday against the Broncos.
Trey Wingo relayed the news on ESPN's Primetime; we're not sure where it came from. It's a short week to prepare, but Quinn gets the easiest matchup possible by facing the Broncos.

Well until I hear something more to support this I'm not going to count on this. Still I think it would kind of tough for Anderson on this one, because even though they lost the game he didn't have a BAD game, just one poor INT at the end of the game.

Still this will give the Browns fan what they want and when they still stay in the dumps they'll be without any more excuses.

Broncos - Champ = not scary at all.

I think it almost had to be done, although drops and lack of concentration killed the browns. Oh well, fans wanted a change, and Romeo wants his job, so he did something to try and spark this offense. We will see...

Derek Anderson out in favor or Brady Quinn. So much for making a huge mistake on the guy.

WOW, I think thats a BAD move. Not only will this make Anderson even LESS confident when called upon.. but I have a feeling the same thing that happened with Boller here.. will happen with Brady In cleveland. I dont think Anderson played that badly yesterday!!! I honestly just thought we played better.. not so much that they played bad.

He made the most out of one year though, got a new contract, so he will be paid a decent amount. Wish he could have done better.... wait... he plays for the browns right, nevermind

Not really, Boller didnt sit for a year. I think Brady wil be better suited for the NFL, I liked him in college, I'll root for him unless he plays us

Cleveland must be crazy. I get that you need to see what Brady Quinn can do but Derek Anderson didnt play that bad of a game. In fact who is really to blame is Edwards for those horrible missed catches.

Anderson hit him right in the hands on one of the deep bombs that could have caused the Ravens some serious problems. I dont think it is time to bench Anderson yet but w/e it really matter cuz we are

already done playing them.

Poor Quinn. Going in once the savages are restless is not the place to be. I hope he does well against Steelers... I wonder if when they made the decision someone said, "What the hell?! Why is their rookie draft pick kicking our #$% while ours is sitting on the bench?"

Anderson set the bar too high for himself. Before 2007, both Baltimore and Cleveland would have killed for a QB like Anderson.

I was just watching the post game press conference for the Browns and after watching that I think this is a desperation move by Romeo, if you listen to him talk you also can hear the lack of confidence in his team to win it down the stretch. He's using excuses like a lack of energy after the last game against the Jaguars or that they might get lucky down the road. I think its kind of a bad sign when the head coach is hoping for luck to give them a chance for the rest of the season where's he's basically hoping the other teams in his division are going to lose and they'll be able to get wins against the same teams; great way to inspire confidence in your team buddy. But maybe that's just me.

I think they might be casting Quinn into the lake and seeing if he can swim. Too bad we aren't going to get a first hand look at him.

I'm seeing this as a desperation move by Romeo, he's giving the fans what they want to appease them and in the hope that Brady will provide his offense some type of spark to revive their playoff hopes. Still on the upside you can't have an easier defense to cut your teeth on than a Champ Bailey-less Broncos defense . . .

I'm not shocked by this move but I am shocked at the way this all went down.

I do believe this is a desperation move but I don't believe Romeo made this call. Hours before this broke he said during his Monday press conference that Derek was still his starting QB. There are many reports that there was a closed door meeting with Romeo, Savage and Lerner and after this meeting is when the stance was changed. I believe Savage and Lerner made this call because of Quinn's and Anderson's contract structures:

1.) Quinn has in his contract that he makes MUCH less money if he only plays in half of the games this season. I find it very interesting this move was made in Week 10 at the halfway point.

2.) Anderson can be cut or traded at the end of the year and we'd owe him nothing more in money except for his salary this year which is approximately $7 million. The only penalty is we'd take a minor cap hit of about 2-2 1/2 million.

I have thought all season that Anderson just hasn't been able to click and his playmakers are not doing him any justice either; ala Edwards and Winslow and missing Jurevicus for the season. I don't agree with Quinn starting right now but I will support him and hope he does well; I just wish this call would of been made after a poor game instead of one that with the exception of one bad bad play Anderson did a good job.

Yeah I feel bad for Anderson on this one, just because the way the game turned out wasn't entirely on his shoulders (like it could be argued after the first game between the Browns and Ravens), Edwards dropped a big pass and then Suggs just made a good play on the ball when the game was already close to being decided.

he got paid good back up money, not good starter money so no real big deal financially for Cleveland. Quinn's contract isn't damaging to them either whether he plays or sits from this point forward. Savage handled both contract perfectly.

As for the change. I think it was premature but it was coming. Brady was a 1st round draft pick and his holdout plus Anderson showing life made Brady sit. I still think Brady's going to be terrible as a pro and all he did was delay the inevitable but if he didn't hold out last year he would have been playing before now to begin with....lucky for him tho his debut is against a bad Denver Defense and he doesn't have to face baltimore this year..
