2013 NFL Mock Draft - Ravens

1st Round - DJ Fluker 6-6 340 LT/RT Alabama - Yeah, I'm probably looking through my Crimson glasses a little bit here but I think he will be a solid option at the end of the first round if he lasts that long. Don't get me wrong.. my #1 choice would be Teo but I just don't see it unless we traded up. Fluker has been a phenomenal right tackle for Alabama since his redshirt freshman year and will only continue to get better. If Oher can take that step that Cam Cameron thinks he can, he may flip to LT which would be even better for Fluker. I ultimately think Osemele will end up at LG.
2nd Round - Shayne Skov 6-3 250 ILB Stanford - This guy was on track to be a top 15 selection if it wasn't for his knee injury. He has fallen down some drafts boards but if he is there in the middle of round 2, Ozzie shouldn't hesitate moving up to get him. Will be a nice playmaker next to Jameel McClain for the departed Ray Lewis.
3rd Round - Cobi Hamilton 6-3 210 WR Arkansas - I honestly think Cobi Hamilton will burst onto the scene at Arkansas this year. He has excellent size and could be a great compliment to Torrey Smith. The Ravens offense needs to continue to add playmakers and Hamilton could be just the guy. I'm not sure if Boldin will be back next year.
3rd Round - Margus Hunt 6-8 275 OLB/DE SMU - Yes, I have us tacking a 6-8 275 guy to play OLB for the Ravens. This guy is a freak athlete and was listed #1 on CBSSports most "freakish" college football athletes. He is projected to run a 4.6 and bench 40+ reps in the 2013 Combine. He had 3 sacks last year for SMU to go along with 7.5 TFL. He is extremely raw he his size, strength, speed combination is unheard of. He might not even make it to the 3rd round regardless of his on the field performance this year at SMU. Combine him with the likes of Upshaw, Kruger, and McClellan and the Ravens could have the deepest OLB core in the NFL. Perfect scenario for him as he could develop at a slow pace.
4th Round - Michael Dyer RB 5-9 225 Arkansas State - Michael Dyer just can't seem to get his head on right. The running back has all the talent in the world but just can't get his off the field issues in check. He has first round talent and the fact that I believe he will be there in the 4th makes me believe Ozzie won't be able to pass him up. The Ravens are loaded at running back if both Pierce and Rainey can continue to develop, but I just really think the value will be there to pick up an elite back who needs to mature.
5th Round - Bacarri Rambo 6-0 210 S Georgia - The Ravens desperately need safety depth and very well might need it after next season if Ed Reed decides to hang it up. After his recent failed drug test and 4 game suspension, Rambo might fall down draft boards. He is a lot more questionable of a pick than Dyer in the 4th, but the talent is there.
5th Round - Michael Williams 6-6 270 TE Alabama - The Ravens have two solid receiver tight ends in Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta but could use a young, solid blocking tight end that can help pave the way for Ray Rice in the run game. Michael Williams is an excellent blocker and has already helped pave the way for two different 1,500+ yard rushers in Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson. Williams also has nice hands and can be a great inline blocking tight end. Comparison: Marcedes Lewis TE Jaguars
6th Round - Branden Smith 5-11 185 CB Georgia - This pick depends a lot on the development of the young corners on our roster and if Cary Williams goes elsewhere. Branden Smith was highly recruited coming out of high school and while he hasn't fully lived up to the hype, he has been a solid contributor.
6th Round - Damion Square 6-3 290 DE Alabama - I honestly feel like Alabama's defensive players fit well in the Raven's defensive scheme. I'll continue that by mocking Square to Baltimore in the 6th Round. Square has been a steady contributor to a defense that has been considered elite in college football. With Art Jones and Pernell McPhee already in the mix, I'm not sure how much sense Square makes but he is worth a flier in the 6th round.
7th Round - James Wilson 6-4 325 G Florida - This guy was granted a rare sixth year of eligibility and is injury prone but could be brought in to see how he develops.

i have no problem with skov and hamilton but i have some comments. fluker is meant for the man scheme and unless cam gets fired next year, theres no way we pick this guy. i don't see rambo falling 4 rounds when he has all that talent. he will be no burfict. i don't think i'll ever see another player drop like his again. bottom of the 3rd at worst for rambo. also, i would rather draft a backup QB like mike glennon in the 4th round than a rb when were loaded at that position already.First off, I want to predict that the Ravens will receive at least a 3rd, 5th, and 6th round pick for the lost free agents after last year.

I can see how the whole off season is going to go with you. Fluker will not, I repeat, will not be a fit for the zbs. Probably the worst lineman you could draft.
Exactly. I'd much rather get Jake Matthews if we are going to get any Offensive Tackle, or even Chris Faulk.

I'm sure you probably know what you are talking about but there are several people who would disagree with you on that. Fluker's technique is still raw but his athletic ability is outstanding for a guy his size. The reason the "whole offseason" is going to go like this for me is yeah, I know a lot about a lot of players from different teams.. but I know the most about the SEC and I'm more familiar with their players. Alabama has the best football program in the country right now (I know, it won't last forever) but with Ozzie's connection to the school you best believe he is evaluating Alabama players hard. No, I'm not saying Fluker will be the choice.. but I do think there are several Alabama players that Ozzie will take a hard look at in Fluker, Chance Warmack, CJ Mosley, Nico Johnson, Robert Lester, Michael Williams, Jesse Williams, and Damion Square. I would say Barrett Jones but I know several players on the team and I've heard he is the fourth best offensive lineman on the team. I know he won the Outland Trophy last year but it has more to do with his versatility, starts in career, and his reputation as an outstanding person. Once teams start evaluating him.. I say he drops to the 3rd round.

Doesnt everyone.
That's the problem. He will be off the board mid-first round. Shayne Skov should be our pick for ILB and lets not forget to sure up our O-Line, which should be our #1 priority.

we might also want to get another OLB.
If the whole no-huddle thing works out we will have to look to improve the O-Line first to give Joe as much time as possible. More open lanes for Ray Rice would be a nice bonus too. Xp

Not sure if he got dismissed but he def. got suspended. Hunter will be a 1st round pick, highest ceiling of any WR in this draft in my opinion.didn't he get dismissed? if we were going to snag a wr, i'd take a peek at the other vol wr justin hunter too

Rd. 1 - Manti Te'o (MLB, Notre Dame) - this might be thinking a little too optimistically but you never know. he's been projected top 10 and sometimes fringe 1st round. best case scenario he has a bad combine. the ravens never pay too much attention to combine performances anyway (see: upshaw)
Rd. 2 - Chase Thomas (OLB, Stanford) - he was all over the place (in a good way) even when Skov went down to injury. he would be a great fit in our system. hope our lb's get fixed though. would hate idea of spending so many picks to this position. if not, well here's any guy to look for.
Rd. 3 - Chris Faulk (LT, LSU) - we can take advantage of a special player falling to injury here. this guy was a sure top 25 pick and is now out for the year. oher and osemele played well so i'll determine if we should take tackle earlier around the 4th or 5th game.
Rd. 4 - Stedman Bailey (WR, West Virginia) - more speed to our receiving core. if we pick him, he could be our Antonio Brown. we're all unsure of anquan boldins status to stay with us next year so we'll need an efficient slot guy.
Rd. 5 - Derek Carr (QB, Fresno State) - i think this our best spot to land a good backup QB. i am definitely not on the taylor bandwagon. if we're going to win games with a backup, i at least want an accurate pocket passer.

chris faulk out for the year i believe. really liked him as LT.
Well I hate to see injuries to potential draft prospects but at the same time these injuries do help the Ravens chances of getting that player in the late first round or second or third round. Imagine his injury drops Faulk to 32 or even the bottom of round 2.

I think I read somewhere that he can return to LSU next year so if he can he should do that.
