Anyone ever attend a Ravens game at Heinz Field?

12 posts in this topic

I have a friend who is a Steelers' fan that vehomently states that Ravens fans are treated with respect at Heinz Field unlike how we treat Steelers fans in our stadium.

I am not trying to start a flame war against Pittsburgh fans because I know we can be pretty rotten ourselves. lol

But I just find it extremely hard to believe Pittsburgh fans would welcome me wearing my R. Lewis jersey with open arms into their stadium. But he swears by it...

I know a few people who have gone into Heinz for a Ravens game, and the reports came back negative. There are a few Steelers fans who are very respectful and pleasant, but not many. I hate to make generalizations, but from my own experience and from stories I've heard, Steelers fans tend to be rude and unpleasant.

From what I've heard it isn't too bad considering our rivalry. You won't have people coming up to share a beer with you, but you won't get dragged down and beaten to a pulp. (See the 49ers-Saints games)

Agreed. I went to the Divisional Playoff game a few years ago. Considering this was a playoff game against a division rival, I thought the Steeler fans were pretty cool. They are definitely passionate about their team. Within 30 miles of the Burg, I knew I was in Steeler country. No welcoming tea parties there. However, I never felt that my life was endangered. As far as comparing the treatment of our fans there as oppose to their fans here, I would say it’s equal. I haven’t seen any welcome tea parties here for Steelers fans.

One week for real Ravens football!!

I don't know but, there's been quite a few colorful stories circulating around over the years. I had a run in with an agent at their ticket office a few years back. Thought she was going to take a swing at me but that's a story for another time.

Steelers fans are the worst.
Does anyone else get the feeling that this should be under Ravens Fans Unite?

It is. ;-)

I went to a Ravens/Steelers game at Heinz Field in 2009, week 16. I was very surprised at how respectful most of their fans were towards me. Again, they weren't lining up to buy me a beer, however; they kept to themselves. There was one idiotic drunken Steelers fan who kept calling Ray Rice a murderer and killer while the rest of the Steelers fans kept yelling "wrong ray" at him. Of course this guy never caught on to how stupid he sounded and shouted this most of the game. The Steelers fans around me seemed more concerned about that guy instead of me.

We also didn't come out of that game victorious so I'm curious as to what the attitudes towards me would of been like if we won.

I've been to Heinz Field or Three Rivers four times. There were good & bad at all four events. Never any violence, but lot's of obscenities inside the stadium and in the tailgate lots.

There were also many good-natured opponent fans. Especially on the Gateway Clipper riverboat ride, which I recommend to anyone visiting Heinz Field.
