Agree. But one thing that makes me confident is we know Cam can put together a heck of a gameplan when given all offseason lol.

Cam CAN.
But will he ?

Ususally the pass rush helps the secondary hold. I think the first few games this year the opposite will hold true. As long as our guys can hold it should give the line a chance to get pressure on Dalton

He had two big runs. Apart from that not really.
He had a 191 yards rushing that game. If that isn't classified as running all over a team then I don't know what is.

Andy Dalton has looked pretty Scrubbish this pre season. I expect somewhat of a Sophomore slump from both dalton and Green.

And yet we still won by a fairly narrow margin.

yes really.
Any thing less than a two TD victory is barely winning in my book. I dont recall what the lead was, but I recall the whole game being a nail biter.
they were very behind and desperately trying to catch up in 4th quarter. Time ran out. The end

What I'm most excited to see in this game is Joe's progression against the Cover 2. Since he struggled to make quick throws over the middle in the past--partly due to being slow through his progressions and partly due to having subpar receivers that weren't quick off their breaks to create separation--he could never put up great numbers through the air. Now we've got tons of speed underneath, so if Joe can get the ball out consistently and make those plays it'll be a huge leap forward.
The spread is small but I remember watching that game and not feeling like it was ever out of hand....unlike the first contest where Jimmy had that crucial interception.

Early in his career but yes, they owned him that game.

Haha yea. Also won't hurt to have Kirkpatrick sitting. The reason I focus on the cover 2 though is that I feel Joe has gotten really far based on his physical tools but against more sophisticated defenses the mental part of the game, at times, gets away from him. If he can dominate that Cover 2, a scheme that's built to naturally take away what he's arm strength allows him to do (deep outs), I'll feel confident that he's reached next level as a cerebral quarterback with strong arm rather than just a strong-armed quarterback.
It wasn't that early. I want to say it was 09 (the year Cincy swept the division and the year of that wonderful playoff game in Foxborough).

EDIT: I just checked it. It was the 2010 season on September 19th. So That would have been Joe's third year.

I guess I'm looking into the future when I say "early".
AH. I got you. I'm looking at it in the past lol But yeah, it would definitely be early in his career if he plays for another 10-15 years.

this will be joe's first game in proving he can carry an offense. hoping the chemistry will still be there between joe and our TE's. optimistic the d played bad because we were using a preseason scheme and shaking off the rust. As for cincy, i too expect a slump from dalton and i'm not high on this team even when healthy
BAL 30 CIN 17
Joe flacco takes apart and injured bengals secondary throwing for 270 yards and multiple TD's. but the bengals have a good D-line and i see rice managing little yards against them. our defense puts the bad preseason behind them

The Bengals D worries me and I think between both of the defenses, this could be a low scoring game. I'm talking Ravens-Steelers low scoring game. I think Justin Tucker will pay off for us right away and boot the game winning FG in the 4th to win the game for us.

Ravens 17
Bengals 14

I like this scenario except I would add: Rice has trouble running out of the backfield but makes up for it with 45 and a TD through the air netting Flacco 315 passing yards.

I think our offense will play great and joe will continue to shut up haters... if he continues to get rid of the ball to torrey on those short inside routes, it doesnt matter how our o line plays(which ill admit, im pretty nervous about them this year).
the two things that worry me are our defense and special team.. if we dont get any pressure on dalton i think he has the ability to really pick on jimmy smith and who ever is cover gresham. and our special teams has looked awful... thought that considine and graham were really gonna boost that unit up, but hasnt really happened in the preseason, hopefully they pick it up now

I'm about to become Mr. Unpopular, but if memory serves correctly, one of those victories last season we were handed by poor officiating. The Gresham catch, clearly a touchdown.

I'm not saying we would've lost that game. In fact, the game couldn't have been more exciting to watch.

So, no, the Bengals are not the same team we used to dismiss every year.

Calvin Johnson rule. You might not like the rule but it's the rule & by that rule it was the correct call.

If Joe would have Green to throw the ball to, wouldn't he do it as often as he can as well?

I don't know if Joe would in comparison to Dalton. With Dalton he forces it to Green when he isn't open. Their offense would be better if he did that less.

Bengals front 7 is really good, when they are healthy. There is a good chance that Carlos Dunlap will miss this game which is a big blow. I think we will be able to run and pass the ball as long as we keep the tempo up and keep applying pressure. I am hoping we see a lot of no huddle like we saw during the preseason.

I think our defense can handle them as well. AJ Green and Gresham are their only real offensive threats and we have the secondary to match up very well. I too believe Dalton is a bit overrated. He had a nice rookie campaign against bad teams, but when he went up against the big boys his play fell off. Their running game will struggle and I have to believe BJGE will underwhelm for them.
I completely agree with this. BJGE was nothing but inconsistent for me in fantasy last year. So many games I took him out.

This! Flacco seemed to struggle against teams that just rushed their front 4 with two high safeties ( Bengals, Seahawks, Jags ) so it will be great to see how he performs now. If the O-line is getting their butts kicked then it's on Cam to draw up plays for Flacco to get rid of the ball faster.
