Practice Squad Candidates

Chester Stewart has not yet been signed to the practice squad. I'd like to see him on their, assuming he's still available.
I really like the first five picks.

So we have:
Antoine McClain
Jack Cornell
Anthony Allen
Josh Bynes
Omar Brown
Adrian Hamilton (pass rusher from the Cowboys)

Chavis Williams has been told he won't be on the practice squad. Seems like we have room for a QB and hopefully Nigel Carr, although Bynes being there makes that seem unlikely.

I don't get the obsession with not wasting draft picks. If a player isn't good enough, and hasn't significantly improved since being drafted, then why keep him? We have Ray Rice, a backup for him, and a clone of him. Activating AA to use him as an additional body on ST, which we can only do if we lose a player to injury or suspension, is a waste when we can activate a player at a need position or sign someone new.

I don't see it as an obsession; more of a preference. The Ravens drafted him for a reason and I suspect they would like to get some return from him. I'm not too worried about it, though. I don't think it matters that much what happens with him at this point. He was only good on special teams.

I'm rather pleased Williams wasn't brought back. I never really liked him all that much, honestly. I didn't quite understand the love for him when people liked him more than Kindle. I didn't see anything special from him. I didn't see anything from Kindle, either. Regardless, I like this guy Hamilton if not for anything but a pass-rusher. Hopefully he can contribute in some way. We will need it.

Kindle better watch his back. I could see Hamilton taking his spot. I don't expect Hamilton to be on PS for long, whether he's called up to us or another team poaches him off our PS.

True. I can see the Ravens IRing someone in favor of Hamilton. I don't think it would be Kindle, though. Well, not unless he just really sucked. Regardless, he has a lot of pass-rush talent but needs some real work. He reminds me somewhat of McAdoo. Whatever happened to him, anyway? Is he on our IR or what? I remember hearing Harbaugh say we would look forward to what he can do next year but I don't see him on our website. What gives?

Apparently we're going to be signing Anthony Levine, a FS from the Packers, to the PS.

That makes Anthony Allen, Omar Brown, Josh Bynes, Jack Cornell, Adrian Hamilton, Anthony Levine, and Antoine McClain.

One spot left, thinking a QB.

Why AA over Damien Berry? Head scratcher there
[/quote]
Berry went on IR, which means he will stay for at least this year unless cut.

Seems like i was right about Bynes in the beginning of the thread haha. We must really see something in him to keep bringing him back. Still would like Nigel Carr, but most likely we probably go with a QB.

Practice squad is a revolving door! Players are signed and cut to make room for (hopefully) better players.

Kind of odd, if you ask me. Not because adding Dennis Dixon is a "waste" of a practice squad member, but rather because Dixon was considered for the #3 QB spot back in April. Obviously, the Ravens signed Curtis Painter, instead, but in retrospect, wouldn't it made more sense to sign Dixon, then, and have him take snaps during the preseason and learn the offense, as well?

I know Painter was the more-experienced NFL quarterback and was brought-in to challenge Tyrod Taylor, but now, he is no longer in Baltimore (not that he was expected to be, mind you). Still, this is just one of those "things" that I find curious, seeing how Dennis Dixon is practically the emergency QB, now...
