From PFT Tweet:

The Ravens have placed sixth-round rookie WR Tommy Streeter on IR, per league source.

No one can be surprised.

That's the ticket, Ozzie. Get creative. How many fast and tall receivers are out there? Let the man develop into a star.

Welcome Deonte Thompson :)

Most of us are cheering for Thompson. He has been a bright spot of the preseason. I just hope he picks another number after he makes the team.

This was predicted.

Sucks for Streeter. He'll get more time to develop, but its still hard being out of football for the year. I liked the pick, but Thompson just excelled.

You never know I read something on the home page saying something about them changing the rules on players on IR. Said that at least 1 player can be taken off IR per year. Maybe he get's better and gets taken off.

No, it's when you come off the PUP after week 6, then you're counted as a roster spot. So when Suggs is activated, someone has to go.

New rule does not apply to those put on IR this year.

Note: Any player placed on IR today is not eligible for the new IR procedures where the player can return later in the season.

It used to be that guys on PUP didn't count against the roster. We'd have to cut a guy to bring in Suggs.

Not surprising at all. Can he still be around team facilities being on IR? Get the kid a juggs machine and let him polish his technique. With the right drive, this kid could be a real force next year.

I don't have a problem with this at all, Streeter isn't ready to contribute this year, this will give him time to develop. Even if he were active what are the chances he would notch a catch this season at all, last year Tandon Doss never really saw snaps and the team basically had Boldin and 3 rookies playing Evans was injured all the time and Reed still ahsn't caught a pass...

I also like that Deonte Thompson earned himself a roster spot, in my mind Thompson is competing with Doss for the 4th WR spot, and he could also see return duties during the season...

He's not hurt, they lie about IR players before the season start to hide players on the roster. In this case too many WRers....

No doubt. I cringe every time I see "83".

Nicely done to whoever called it first. I'm surprised teams get away with this, but it's a shrewd decision. Streeter definitely flashed some potential, especially in the red zone, but you couldn't get rid of Thompson with the way he was playing.
