I wouldn't go that far. Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, Dallas Clark, Jeff Saturday. He's had more weapons than what Luck has right now. Same running game.

Defense had a lot of missing pieces but their offense still had talent, just no direction.
Ya that's true. I just think the whole team was a mess.

I must admit I'll take Painter but I just pray to God Joe never gets hurt.

I think we all can agree that we never ever want Joe hurt. He is a tough boy though.

The problem that Painter ran into with Indianapolis wasn't the fact that he had a crap team around him, he had a team with crappy attitudes.

You're telling me, as talented as the Colts were with Peyton Manning, that another quarterback couldn't just step in and not necessarily be AS productive, but should at least keep your team close to a .500 season?

The only reason Painter failed in Indianapolis is because a lot of the players got it in their heads, be intentionally or unintentionally -- "Well, Peyton's out for the season. We're going to stink." And thus, they stunk. Or, you got other guys on the sideline thinking -- "All right, Peyton's gone. I have an excuse not to perform to my caliber. I'm going to take a bit of a break this year." And thus, they stunk.

You cannot be successful with a team that has already made up their minds that they are losers. If the Colts were half the team people thought they were, the WRs... the O-Line... the RBs... the TEs... and the defense should've stepped up their game. Look at the Ravens, Ray went down last year for four games and we went on without a hitch. It was like he was still out there.

The same thing will happen this year with Suggs' gone. Other members of the team are going to step up and make up for the difference. Whether the be on offense or defense, doesn't matter. You can help your team from either side of the ball. You just have to find it in yourself. The Colts couldn't do that. They didn't support Painter. They didn't support Collins. They didn't support Orlovsky. They made up their minds they were only going to play with Peyton.

So, if Joe would happen to go down -- it doesn't matter to me who is behind him -- because whoever it is, is going to get the full support of the team from every angle. (And forgive me for saying this...) Just like the Steelers did when Roethlisberger went down and they had to play with Dixon -- Dixon looked like a quality QB because his team helped him out.

I just prefer Painter because the offense wouldn't have to change their style of play to fit a scrambling QB.

~ Malkavian Raven
Who put that soapbox under my feet?

There goes my rainbow Painter signature idea.

I feel kinda bad for Painter. He made a couple good plays, but was just too streaky. In the end it was a good choice for the team to cut him. I am sorry, but neither he or Tyrod will be able to step up for Flacco, so why waste a roster spot. If Joe goes down, we are doomed and after the 4th pre-season game, I am convinced he might be our most vital player on the team.

For those who don't know, Painter was released by the Ravens tonight.
