Couldn't get open? I saw him open.

On another note, Harbaugh told him the other day that he is the replacement for Boldin when he goes. The team clearly values him. There's a reason they're running the team and not you.
Good thing they are i guess i would have never drafted the guy. He has done absolutely nothing in his time on the field. Deonte has made more plays then him in two preseason games then his NFL body of work,

I would give Deonte a roster spot in 53 man roster. His a beast of a man
Definitely DT over Payne. Not even close, IMO.

But did you not ask if an incomplete pass in the EZ on 4th would equal a safety? :D
Yep, but I had no smiley at the end of that one. And I still don't know why it was such a ridiculous question (especially from a help- and clueless European who's been into football for only about two years) - apart from tha fact that probably no sane coach would make the team go for a 4th from the endzone...

(Also, I noticed the smiley at the end of your comment ;))

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him make it, too.

Man we are on fire with these knee high socks thing.
I remember when I was a young lad -- all the knee high socks I used to shove between my mattress and the wall. Never wore them again after that.

And what has Payne done to warrant a roster spot? He's done nothing throughout his career. He's had a nice preseason, sure, but there's a reason he has hardly played. He also dropped the most important pass of this preseason for himself to even have a glimmer of hope at making the roster.

Well, I'm afraid I have to go - it's half past 4 AM here, in Hungary, and workday tomorrow... Let me just say I'm glad we're not bitter about the result - it really didn't matter this time.

G'night all.

He caught few easy passes here and there today, was invisible past 3 preseason. Missed a hard catch. His a medicore backup. Plenty of lame players out there. I dont want Payne

And, before I take my leave for today, I'll drop a smartbomb: the two definite disappointments for me this pre-season were Upshaw and Cary Williams. Upshaw seemed genuinely lost and helpless too many times making little to no impact, while Cary Williams seems to get too deep into the "always one millisecond, one millimeter late" technique...

What do you all think?

Exactly. He's an oft-injured veteran who's performed against 3rd string guys. He offers very little upside compared to Doss, who has arguably the best hands on the team.

i would put kruger as a more disappointing performance than upshaw and i wouldn't just say cary as it was the entire CB group that stunk these 4 games.

Well, I don't think Doss's place on the roster is challenged by Payne. I think it's gonna be a Payne v Deonte showdown.

And Deonte is light years ahead of him for that spot.

Well, hard to argue for Kruger, that's true. And no CB stood out, that's also true. Jimmy got burned a little too much, i guess - but he had quite some WR's to cover, i mean Megatron and Roddy White (or was that Jones?)...

Kindle looked horrid. He just got manhandled. I don't see us keeping for anything more than depth. Kitchen looked great. Didn't see much of the game. I did see the ball bounce off of Doss's hands for the interception, but it looked like it was slightly behind him. Still, it's usually automatic when it's in his area.

EDIT: The reason Thompson will probably win over Payne is because he's also an excellent kick returner. I think tonight, from what I saw(which wasnt much due to Arabic HW), they were both equal at the receiver spot. They both missed catchable balls. Thompson at the sidelines and Payne on the last drive in the 4th qtr. I think Payne's was more crucial because he failed to get them out of the endzone and extend the drive.

At my local grocery store it's cheaper by 2 cents to buy a 1L of coke over the 12 ounces of coke.
I can drink it all day. Rot my teeth!

Hahaha at the sock thing... ;)

i can excuse the megatron game but every other game it was the same story. same with cary and i'm big fans of both guys. it sucks to see them play this poorly but hopefully the benefit of the regular season scheme helps and that they both have great safeties to back them up when it counts. i expect them to bounce back. krugers performance though was shocking. i had low expectations for his run stopping this year but he hasn't shown last years pass rush ability either. maybe he just can't play the position, idk?

Everybody is on Doss because Flacco hand picked him Right? Jordan handpicked Kwame Brown, how did that work out?
Jordan chose to sign a former first round pick.....nothing new about that, im sure all coaches and gm's think about getting a first rd talent that is labeled a bust because of this or that reason

I don't like ANYONE'S chance in that cesspool , in those conditions... You know, only a few 50 Yarders have been made there?
I know... and while I'm no longer a Billy supporter he did make that crucial 51 yarder last year.
