Flacco gaining new respect?

Guys, stop picking on Pirate! The Cundiff jokes have run their course, and many of them weren't that funny anyway.

Nice to see some respect for Joe! I love it!

I agree, most of those jokes went wide left of the target.

I think a lot of analysts revealed some new found respect for Joe after the way he performed in the AFCCG. He solidly outperformed Brady and one dropped pass (that was obviously on target) away from the Super Bowl. We know, the world knows and most of all, the Patriots & their fans know -- they were about as lucky as it gets.

I wouldn't count on them being so lucky this year.

I agree, I think the Afccg was the turning point. With no grandeur intended, Flacco looked like Aaron Rodgers out there, making every possible throw, making plays with his feet, and dominating in what may have been the most important game of his career.
Reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald a few years ago, when he was considered a damn good reciever, but once he played like superman in the postseason, it cemented his status as an elite player. The post season has that affect on the way people percieve you...

The best part will be watching all te fans who have been saying we win in spite of Flacco suddenly support him bc he's starting to get recognized for his play.

If we do manage to win it all this year it couldn't have come at a better time for Flacco. First it a contract year and second with the reigning Defensive MVP out it's already been stated he's going to have to do his part on offense. We know to get to the big game he's going to have contribute and no one could use the excuse the defense carried him. I personally think Flacco had been ready to take over on offense since 10 but I guess better late than never. I want and need Flacco to have a good year. Have a little bet he would finish with a better qb rating than Eli which I still believe is very possible.

All the more reason to finalize his long term deal NOW.... before a couple more zeros are added the the price tag after a breakout year.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a deal will be announced very soon. I could be way off, but I've been thinking what better way to get the year off right!

I also think he get's paid no matter when the deal comes. Biscotti knows what he has and will pay accordingly.

Yeah, I can see where some would talk down on Joe, there were a few games where he just played horrible, or, it appeared that way. But, IMO that was all part of him developing & honing his skills.

The thing I think has really changed in the minds of his doubters are the targets he has to throw to now. Smith & Jones are going to open things up, making the safeties play IN thier postion rather than sneaking up & allowing for CB blitz off the corner.

The other thing is Flaco's arm, he CAN air it out. Might be a bit of a reach to say it kind of reminds me of Montana with Rice & Taylor, but it is an image that excites me & I look forward to seeing some big plays this year.

Maybe you should read the comments section below. There was one guy there who called him "Jamarcus Russell on a good team". Joe has always had respect from respectable analysts i.e. former quarterbacks like Jaws, Dilfer, Boomer, Sims, Bradshaw, etc. But other players, and especially other fans? Forget it. It's not that big of a deal anyway, because in the end Joe has a great opportunity to lead this team to a Superbowl, and then he won't need anybody's respect.

The only analyst that has been behind Flacco from day 1 , has been Phil Simms.

And im glad because i respect his opinions and i love it when he calls our games. He has a great voice for calling games, never too little, never too much.

Oh and for the rest of these Bandwagneers , they make me sick because as soon as he has one bad game. They jump right off. Screw um.

I mean... that's a great tandem but it's no Flacco/Smith/Jones.
