Flacco gaining new respect?

Flacco is currently listed as number 8 on Michael Lombardi's list of the top ten quarterbacks, and Lombardi says that he genuinely believes that Flacco could be top five by next offseason.

It's nice to see Flacco finally getting some respect, especially in the last place I'd expect.

a lot of analysist give him respect and credit for his skills. IMO, the lack of respect just comes from most fans, either ravens fans or other team fan bases. Two years in a row a game winning drive in pitsburg, could have played a better AFCC game, etc...i think the skills are obvious to most that do pay attention and i do believe this is his breakout year. Im predicting 4200 yards, 32 tds and 11 ints

Sapp, Dukes and heath bar are 3 who have never given Joe an ounce of respect. Can't wait for them to eat their words.

Yeah I've been noticing that Joe has been getting more attention lately. I think it's funny how all the "analysis" are starting to jump on the Joe Flacco bandwagon just because others are doing so. Even though throughout his whole career they've had nothing good to say about him.

90% of them are so full of it. Atleast Skip Bayless sticks with his opinions, unlike the nfl network people.

I also think it's funny how over the last 3 years all I've wanted is for Joe to get the attention he deserves, but now I don't like it when someone like Lombardi says he likes him all of a sudden. I guess his preseason performance convinced him, idk lol

Suddenly, everyone is jumping on the Flacco bandwagon.

I have no problem with it though as long as we can see the good Flacco consistently. I would like for him to keep getting all of this praise.

I don't think it will affect or bother him. Joe seems very comfortable in his skin.

Attention national writers, scribes and hacks, this is Flacco's coming out year. He is throwing the ball better than ever and has the Super Bowl in his sights.

I think a lot of analysts revealed some new found respect for Joe after the way he performed in the AFCCG. He solidly outperformed Brady and one dropped pass (that was obviously on target) away from the Super Bowl. We know, the world knows and most of all, the Patriots & their fans know -- they were about as lucky as it gets.

I wouldn't count on them being so lucky this year.

~ Malkavian Raven

Read the La Conforta article already? Hint: The title is "A steady performer to date, this year Joe Flacco becomes elite QB".

I know right. What were we thinking when we brought in Q and D Mason. Those guys were total disasters who didn't contribute anything to the team.

All the more reason to finalize his long term deal NOW.... before a couple more zeros are added the the price tag after a breakout year.

I'm pretty sure that you're being sarcastic too, but to be clear, I was being crazy sarcastic.

As for Jones, I will reserve judgement until the season starts. He's a young receiver who has speed and good route running on his side. He drops some passes, but so does everyone. During this preseason, he seemed to have pretty good hands. He might not be as huge of a pickup as Q or Mason, but I'm fairly certain that he will be a great asset to the team.

I was being sarcastic. As long as Jones makes the catches he HAS to catch... then I'm good. Just can't be dropping passes in the end zone or on 3rd downs. Other than that, I'm cool.

And no one will ever compare to Mason -- the dude could do more playing with a dislocated shoulder than most players can do at full health.

Yeah. I never get tired of watching that touchdown catch against Detroit, where he takes a hit in the chest that knocks a defender off of him and lets him get the touchdown.

Mason is a true warrior. I'm glad he retired a Raven. I don't know if he will make HOF but he was really good.

I hope he would retire a Raven because he did tie the touchback record with us and go to the pro bowl with us. He didn't do that with any other team yet. Lol we are talking about Flacco here!

Seriously though... back to Flacco...

...anyone who can go into New England during an AFCCG and give Brady and the Patriots a run for their money, let alone take their Super Bowl aspirations away in the final two-minutes -- if that isn't showing the ability to become an elite QB, then I don't know what is.

Lots of people have been jumping on the Flacco bandwagon lately. In addition to this article, Mike Freeman on CBS Sports is predicting him to have a breakout season, La Canfora is expecting him to be elite, and Stephen A. Smith has been praising him on First Take. Though to be fair, Freeman has always been in Flacco's corner, and La Canfora is a Baltimore guy. Peter King has also teased at a Flacco feature. He was going to publish the column today, but said he would wait until Monday to give it the widest publicity on his "Monday Morning Quarterback" column. The guys on Sirius XM NFL radio like Ross Tucker, Pat Kirwan, and Adam Schein have also had effusive praise for him (though, again, Tucker has always been a Flacco guy). And FoxSports had an article on the most underrated players in the league today, and Flacco was #1.

Honestly, it's kind of weird. I'm not used to a QB around here getting so much attention. Kind of makes me nervous, really.
