RGIII vs Russell Wilson Value

20 posts in this topic

Would you rather use 3 first round picks and a 2nd pick for RG III

OR

Would you rather get Mark Barron 1st round, Cordy Glenn 2nd round and Russell Martin in the 3rd and have your first round picks in 2013-2014.

Id take Russell Wilson here easily

Same as Rg3 basically minus 2 inches
You can build around him
You dont risk a Ryan leaf type bust.

I assume you are referring to Russell Wilson, not Russell Martin who plays for the Yankees.

I dont really know to be honest. Wilson has looked good, but he may not have the ceiling of RG3. I would like to see them play ins some real games before I have a strong opinion either way.

I work with some Skins fans (I know...ugh!) and I find it hilarious what was given up for a QB. To have to reach like that is so sad (and I dont mean reach as in Griffin is not talented, but reach by mortgaging the future for ONE player).

They'll flop and fail as usual.

As to the question at hand here, I would agree that I need a little more time, BUT yes, on the surface much rather go with my picks/draftees and still grab a QB.

If RGIII lives up to most of the hype, I think he's worth the cost. But - there's no way I could honestly answer which I'd rather do with only 3 preseason games to base my decision on. Ask again in several years.

And on that note, in hindsight, I recommend we draft Aaron Rodgers over Mark Clayton in 2005. We don't even need to trade up.

Can you help me understand the point of this thread? I'm really lost on what this thread is supposed to be talking about.

Poking fun at Dan Snyder and the Skins FO for trading away a draft and a half for one dude?

Oh ok, and now that I look it over, I see that is what he means.

Yeah They would have been better off not trading all those picks and used them to build their team up. Though it really is hard to assume they would have took Barron, Glenn or even Wilson if they hadn't traded all those picks for RG3.

I'm really surprised by Wilson... but not surprised at how good the Seahawks will be this year. I assumed Flynn would step up and make a big difference. In reality any improvement at QB woudl be a big step for the hawks. They are solid all around and should really challenge the 49ers for NFCW.

I'd like to see them actually play a game that matter before I make a choice.

If the redskins strike gold with Rg3, then I don't think they paid too much. Now more than ever you need an elite QB in the NFL

They basically gave up two 1st and a 2nd for him. For a team and fans that really needed a QB I don't think it was to much. They're basically forced to stay with RG3 for the next 2 years no matter what. They signed a bunch of weapons this offseason for him, and will most likely next FA. They're drafting must be on point, but next years 2nd will most likely be pretty high.

Thanks to having RG3 who is very promising playing QB, the Redskins have a pretty good system in place. They have a weak offensive line but next years draft is apparently very deep, and teams always find stud offensive lineman in the later rounds. I loved the move they did.

Let's not go overboard on this Wilson guy yet. He's played one preseason, and if I remember right, it was preseason that got people to declare Colt McCoy a breakout QB last year.

Ya, I agree with playing a game first. The hawks (fans) are pretty hyped up on themselves right now... but its preseason. They do look good. But I'm curious if much will change opening day. One thing is for sure though, they are deep in most positions.

To me the best picks come with value. Teams that continually give up a lot to go after big names rarely have success. Jets, Redskins, Cowboys, etc.

The teams that do it the best build from within and have strong (full) drafts.

So I side with the value pick. Though the Seahawks didn't really go value in the first round with Bruce Irvin. But in this particular conversation its too early to tell. In three years we will have the better idea of the difference, if any.
