Billy Cundiff Released; Justin Tucker Wins Kicking Job

303 posts in this topic

I read somewhere (i forget where) that in his first practice after earning the job Tucker made kicks of 61 & 63 yards. Considering Cundiff couldn't be trusted to make a 50 yarder last year I think we are in good hands.

Hopefully we don't see a game winner in DC from Cundiff. hahaha

Hopefully game isn't that close...

I've looked around online, seen nothing to confirm he actually signed with Redskins, if you know where the story is, please post a link. Thanx

That would be ideal.

That brings the Ravens-in-DC count to 5.

Gano, Cundiff, Chester, Wilson, Moll.

moll was cut in the first round of cuts by Washington

I stand corrected.

They are both cocked back ready to kick. Stovers plant leg is closer to the ball. You can see similarities in every kicker but they have two different approaches.
It doesn't look like Tucker's foot it completely planted but he wouldn't be bringing his foot forward if it wasn't firmly planted.

OMG a horrible thought flashed in my little mind . . . Tucker in a Skins uniform! Whew.

In all seriousness, I wish Billy Cundiff the best of luck! Anyone know how much he signed on for & for how long. Probably just this year, huh?

Nice to see Cundiff land on his feet so quick. He'll have some good opportunities to kick in DC with very little playoff pressure kicks. Its a match made in heaven.

Skins love our leftovers.

Other teams can say the same thing about us. The Texans come to mind.

Best of luck to Billy. Atleast with a rookie QB Billy won't have to make any kicks in a championship game any time soon.

I wish Billy the best of luck, but facts don't lie Tucker is just better in everything. Long kicks, percentage in camp, and price. There is no doubt in my mind that Billy will get some action especially with the caliber of teams the Skins are playing. They play a lot of good defenses and might have a tough time staying on the field on 3rd downs.

Thank god it's not a team I hate. Good luck Billy!
I hope he keeps the number 7. At least his family can stay in the area and don't have to move.

The fingers in the air are the same but the approach looks totally different. Tuck is straight up kind of over the ball.Matt was leaned more backward.
In the picture.. That's because Tucker is still taking his step towards the ball in the pic and Stover is in place to kick it. This is better...

Actualy it was Hauschka who beat out Gano and then Cundiff replaced Hauschka.

This is somewhat related but now that we found Stover's clone in Justin Tucker, we now need to find JO's and Ray's clone now and we'll be set!
