Oh boy...there are certainly ways to get a Tucker jersey for way less than $150.

This is the right move by the Ravens and a good one.

Cundiff was not a clutch kicker. He was average and I thought pretty awful beyond 50 yards. Those are crucial kicks and ones teams need. When teams are attempting 50 yarders it is generally a sign of a struggling offense, so any points that can be had must be had.

Whenever Billy trotted out there for long field goals, I always doubted him. I knew he would miss that kick, man %$^*!

Didn't he miss a few against the Seahawks?? I think he missed one against the Niners in a close game.

He wasn't good enough. Next guy up!

Before we close this thread, I just want to say that I started doubting Cundiff at the Cardinals game when we came back from a big first half deficit and the game was resting on a last minute FG. He made that one, but later cost us a chance at the SB. I think that Tucker has all the tools to keep us happy for many years. Still, I would have preferred that we had drafted Zuerlein before the Rams got him. The kid has a monster leg and is due to break the NFL record of 63 yards this season. Feel free to quote me on that one!

Ummm..... Tucker has that leg too. And I think in the long run Tucker can be a top three kicker (Even tho rankings only matter in fantasy)

A guy on the Ravens subreddit on reddit.com did a little research into Cundiff and his stats.

See the thread here.

TL;DR Cundiff is worse than the average undrafted rookie kicker.

As long as Tucker doesn't turn into Hauschka, I'll be happy.

I think Hauschka had a better season than Billy last year.

Yup, he went 25-30 last year, including 5/5 against the Ravens in a 5 point victory. I'm certainly not trying to pin the blame on Billy for that game despite him missing both his attempts. Flacco threw a INT on their side of the field, david Reed put two fumbles on the ground that led to 6 of Hauschka's points and our run d was uncharacteristically atrocious in that game (I guess Marshawn Lynch had eaten enough Skittles before the game to go into "beast mode" haha). But this was the guy we cut for missing 1 game winner and missing a pointless kick while having a PAT blocked in a Cleveland game our team won 16-0 anyway. And to see him tearing it up while Billy flubbed both of his attempts was the point where I realized Billy was merely a servicable kicker, the AFC Championship was just the salt in the wound.

I certainly wish Billy the best in the future and hopefully someone gives him a chance to redeem himself. But the best man won, and I am glad the coaching staff saw that.

Similarity?

yeah, but I kinda miss that very odd stance Matt would take prior to the snap.
The first is a given but the 2nd Tucker is more upright and over top of the ball. His hand is also out flat and level like a tightrope walker. Billys is kind of flailing around.
The fingers in the air are the same but the approach looks totally different. Tuck is straight up kind of over the ball.Matt was leaned more backward.

Until Justin can make this kick, he can't be compared to Sto.

Just a picture of tucker earlier in his kick.
They are both cocked back ready to kick. Stovers plant leg is closer to the ball. You can see similarities in every kicker but they have two different approaches.

I honestly believe Matt Stover found a way to make himself younger, clone himself and changed the name of his clone to Justin Tucker.

5 teams could kick his tyres. The teams that had the 28th-32nd most accurate kickers.
A couple other "name" kickers have been cut as well. Guys like Rackers who all had better seasons than Billy last year

Haha wow, although he is statistically better than Gano in his career. Gano was one of the few active kickers ranked lower

I've been doing some reading up on Tucker and have learned that there are many others things which may have contributed to him winning the job in the minds of the FO. 1) he covers his kicks, and 2) he can punt should something happen to S Cook, both of which Cantkick was seriously lacking.
