Billy Cundiff Released; Justin Tucker Wins Kicking Job

303 posts in this topic

I for one am glad he is gone. He was great in 2010 but to be truthful that was the only good season of his career. Other than his extended stay with the Cowboys and 3 years with us he has been a journeyman. Like it or not he choked last year as did Lee Evans and it cost us a Super Bowl appearance. Welcome Justin Tucker, lets go get a Ring.

I like it thats very classy of you but really I'm not gonna feel sorry for a guy thats probably gonna make roughly 8X as much as me when he's not playing then on top of that probably sign with another team where he'll make probably another 1/2 million when I to have a wife and a 3 month old baby to provide for to
I said the same thing man. Pretty much any professional athlete who lasts for a while should be set for life. Hard to feel sorry for these guys, especially the ones that go broke because they needed $3 million in bling, five houses, and a few Escalades.

Congratulations to Justin Tucker! The right decision was made. I don't I ever would have gotton over the wide left kick in the Championship Game.

Justin Tucker also has something Cundiff never had... mad swag.
Truth. Seriously I was waiting for him to bust into a product commercial (Old Spice lol) on the sideline. He's got lots of confidence and athleticism. Congratulations Justin Tucker!

I'm certain that Billy Cundiff will find opportunities elsewhere. One thing about being a Raven, other teams are looking to pick up players that do not make our roster. So the opportunities are there for him and I wish him luck.

Would have been nice if he could have had a graceful exit. Good luck Billy!

Cmon' Tuck! Here's to 15 to 20 years of solid place kicking.

Just remember to temper your enthusiasm for this news by keeping in mind that a fine young man with a family has just lost his job. Yes, we want the best for our team, but these are human beings, not robots.

Thank you.

Billy will kick again in this league, no question. Harbs said it and for once it wasn't coach-speak--this will end up being best for all involved. Billy can get a fresh start (weren't the Jets looking at him?) and so can the Ravens.

The only thing we have to do is try to remember him for that one special year he had, not for that one bad kick. Best of luck, Billy.

I'm happy for Tucker ,the team , the fans (including me) but a little sad for Cundiff. The nature of the beast when you miss a big kick to end a season the team pretty much has to move on if they can find someone else.

This is going to be a blessing in disguise for Cundiff who got his payday, he'll get one elsewhere and get a clean slate with another team.

In an alternate universe I wonder what would have happened if a time out would have been called before the kick. Everything seemed so frenetic.

Best of luck as long as it isn't with another AFCN team.

It'll be nice to be able to attempt 50+ FG's now instead of having to punt it.
Yea Koch is gonna drop in some numbers like inside 20 so dont be alarmed when it happens.

Agreed 100%

Tucker will help put more points on board and I think Ravens even punted instead of trying a 49 yard FG last year

I feel comfortable with Tucker from 55 and he has the leg for 60 if desperate

He got his bonus money but most of that payday will be lost. Non-guaranteed

I'm excited about Tucker but I am sadden about the cut. I never like it when good guys lose their jobs.

Sometimes change is good and necessary - for both parties. Billy will certainly kick for somebody this year. Hope he handled it like a man.

He is a good guy, but look at it this way; You won't have to feel worse when Cundiff misses another clutch FG.
