Steelers Injuries

67 posts in this topic

That injury to DeCastro, the Steelers #1 pick, could be a serious blow. He is going to have an MRI today, but they say that it is a "potentially severe" knee injury. Fox Sports also reports that Brent Keisel hurt his ankle which was reported as a "mild high ankle sprain.: The key words "high ankle" which usually heal pretty slow.

I know that when two starters on your lines go down that can really hurt. The Steelers have certainly had their fair share of major injuries lately with Casey Hampton and Rashard Mendenhall still not back from their knee injuries. I don't wish injury on any team, even the hated Steelers. It just seems that they are really starting to mount up, although they had no problem destroying the Bills last night.

Ben is being a drama queen and blaming the Field Turf at the Bills Stadium for Decastro's injury, even though I'm pretty sure it was another offensive lineman who fell on the back on Decastro's leg causing the injury, not the field turf. He also said that this is another reason to get rid of the field turf.

But his anterior cruciate ligament is intact, according to sources and Steelers still are unsure if or when he will be able to return this season."

looks like his ACL is fine but MCL, knee cap and patellar tendon is fudged up. He'll most likely be on the PUP list but we'll see when he exactly will be able to come back

Interesting. NFL.com says that he tore both his ACL and MCL.

Seems like it's confirmed.

Schefter is saying that his ACL is intact but he dislocated his knee cap however. Either way, he'll be out for awhile.

I like how these last 3 posts went lol.

When Ben heard the news he ruptured his ear drum. Could be out 2-3 weeks.

Do we have any sort of official word on the extent of DeCastro's injuries? It is MCL only or MCL and ACL? Sad for this to happen in the pre-season of his rookie year and I do wish him well with recovery.

But am I being mean for being happy when I first heard about this? And not only that, I actually wondered if he was going to make it back before we play them *a tiny bit of shame*

PFT has said there are two conflicting reports, but the end result will be the same. DeCastro is out for the season. Besides DeCastro, how has Mike Adams looked? I'm assuming the Steelers line will suck as usual.

Not so much. He apparently gave up 2.5 sacks in a period of 9 plays during an earlier pre-season game and then went out with an injury.

Well we know he can run, but the question is how long can he run before that ankle becomes an issue again and when injuries begin getting to him again.

Sorry for DeCastro. Feel worse for Ben. Look at the teams we face. Our division has decent pass rushers but the NFC East is insane. He's definitely missing time this season from injury.

Yeah the Steelers play the Giants in week 9 so I know JPP, Justin Tuck, and Osi U. will be licking their chops. Too bad we play the Giants in week 16 when Prince Amukamara will be healed up and the Giants will be fighting hard for Home Field Advantage or to make the playoffs.

Yeah Steelers are facing:

JPP and the Giants
Ware and the Cowboys
Babin and Eagles (They got the Hurt too)
Kerrigan and Redskins
Von Miller and Broncos
Rex Ryan Blitzing madness
Bengals D-Line

and a double dose of Sizzle

That's a lot of beating there.

According to Rotoworld, Decastro could be out 3-5 months.

No...Worries from a Steeler fan. DeCastro was playing Lack-Luster football. He was being pushed around like a doll baby. One of the reasons why he tore his MCL. Couldn't imagine him playing against BMORE...Adams will be pushed back to Right Tackle. I'm really encourage how our new offense is looking. Big Ben has never gotten the ball out so quickly. I mean i know its only preseason..But a 38-7 Romp of the Bills with a new offense is quite impressive.

I'd be shocked if Suggs is playing in one or both games vs Pittsburg
I will be shocked if Suggs is playing in 2012. He is a great athlete but if he cannot come back prior to Dec 1st might as well pack it in until 2013

I don't think the loss of a rookie OL is anything to lose sleep over. Unfortunate for him but does not affect the steelers all that much. He would have been a rotation guy at best this year.

Wouldn't his play to begin with be enough to concern you? Neither of the Steelers' rookie OL-men have done well, and for a line that's already shaky and injury-ridden... Anyway, if Decastro was playing he must've been better than somebody.
He was our number 1 draft pick so of course he would be slated to start or have a great opportunity too. That doesn't mean he will be great or up too par. My concern with our O-Line is that anybody who starts for the Steelers have a job too do, and a standard to keep. No Excuses PERIOD.

I fell terrible for Decastro, but I'm secretly smiling on the inside. The steelers tried to invest into their O line BIG time this year and thus far Adams looks sloppy, and Decastro (probably the safest pick in the draft, and yes even over Luck) gets injured. Back to square 1 for the steelers! I don't think Ben is going to sleep to well this season!
