Why do we always play the Rams in preseason?

23 posts in this topic

In week 4 of every preseason, the Baltimore Ravens always go to St. Louis to play the St. Louis Rams. Every year, week 4, and always in their place.
Can someone please explain this to me?
Thank you in advance.

It was not the case last year. We didn't play them in last years preseason. Regular season, yes, but not preseason. We didn't play them in 09 either.

Going back it does look like every other year. Still, I wonder what has caused the NFL to schedule that way.

Stop it now.

from my understanding, every team tries to play the closest teams in preseason. there are exceptions of course, like the pats just played tampa bay

also, it's a little redundant to play a team you're supposed to face in the regular season. that's also why we don't play our division rivals in preseason. (exception: browns-eagles this year)

so all those limits the teams that are available to play against in preseason

Honestly it's preseason, I really don't care who we play against, with the exception of division rivals.

If anything we play Atlanta, NY Giants, Skins and Eagles often in the preseason , of course not during a year that they are on the regular season schedule

Could be some agreement with the Rams. For example. The 49ers and Chargers play every pre season.... Away, Home, Away, Home, etc.

Short trip.

Used to be the same with the 49ers and Raiders... but ya.

I have no problem with this. The Rams suck. At one week before the regular season starts (yay) I just want the coaches to get enough info to determine who to cut and make it through with no injuries, and having an awful team play against us limits injuries wonderfully.

As to why we always go away to play the Rams, it is probably the same reason we go away to play the Chargers...they don't own a plane? lol

Just kidding!!!

Just hope we come out of it with no injuries!

Any time you can play the Rams it's a blessing, but I don't see the correlation between a team being good and not having injuries. Honestly if there's any correlation it would be the opposite: The worse guys are the worse their technique, the worse their technique (generally speaking) the higher likelihood of poor tackling and blocking--resulting in bodies rolling around on the turf in pain. Add in the fact that every guy out there after 15 minutes is literally playing with nothing to lose and I find that unsettling.
