Rumor: Cary Williams to be traded to the Colts?

Cary for Freeney! Absolutely, but lets be real here . . THAT ain't gonna happen! 2 Round pick is more likely & we KNOW Ozzy would use it wisely. With Suggs out, and no REAL threatening Pass Rush, we need a VERY tight secondary . . . has me a little worried that QBs will taking thier time to pick us apart.

We face some serious QBs this year, as ALWAYS just our division, RG3 and others, just cause some of them are Rookies, trust me, they ARE very skilled and are coming in starting, remember, Joe was a rookie, look at what he's done.

Maybe Im reading too much into this, but Irsay just tweeted that the trade needs to get done soon to help with the learning curve of bring this potential person in. If this was Cary, why would he need to go through a learning curve of going to a system he played in last year (Pagano)? This makes me think even more that its not Cary....

Lol, some things in this thread are funny. I will start off saying I doubt Irsay is referring to Williams since Williams isn't some huge star in the media's eyes. With that said, I feel like interjecting my opinion here.

Trade value: I don't see the Ravens getting more than a 3rd for Williams, and I will be pleasantly surprised if we got that. Williams isn't a known star. Look at Josh Wilson's trade years ago. We gave up a 5th for him. I'd say he and Williams are similar regarding star power. Then again, Ozzie is our GM and he is usually good at trades. There are, of course, some exceptions.

Trade partner: if not the Colts, then who? Many teams do need CBs. There is still time for injuries to occur, too. If some team gets their CB group depleted like the Giants did last year I can see a trade happen. Right now, I don't see any team desperate for CBs--yet.

Player Trade: if we trade player for player, who? We don't have the space for a Freeney, Mathis, or anyone else with a big name. I don't see Pagano trading his pass-rushers for CBs, no matter how bad the secondary may be there.

So, in conclusion I don't see us trading for a player. If we do trade we will trade for a pick next year. I am not worried about losing Cary because I think he did so well last year in part due to Pagano's schemes. I don't think he will have as dominant a year. I like him a lot, though, and won't be disappointed if he stays. I don't see him coming back next year because we still have to worry about Flacco and Reed and possibly McKinnie if we want him back. I would happily take a 4th round pick for Cary and consider that a good deal for us.

As for who replaces Williams I would look to Graham, Gorrer, and even Brown. I like the guys we have enough to believe we can survive without Williams. Gorrer is a personal favorite of mine. I see Dean using a lot of CB & S blitzees this year.

After reading and hearing about this all week, I've got to interject as well. IMO, decent cornerbacks are like good pitching in MLB. When you have a decent corner you never let it go. Carey Wiliams is just that, he's a decent cornerback. With Suggs out for quite a while we'll need to be strong in the secondary and Williams is definately among the top 3 on the team.
