Rumor: Cary Williams to be traded to the Colts?

So you listed Cody/Kindle/Kruger...how about Ray Rice or Torrey Smith?

Plus I don't buy into one player causing a whole TEAM to be toward the top in a statistical category like overall pass defense. A solid pass rush can influence pass defense statistics and vice versa. Cary may not exactly be expendable, you can never have too many CB's, but I'd trade him now knowing he's going to walk after this year. Then if we need a CB, we can sign someone who has been cut from another team.
I wouldn't mind another Kruger or Cody for Cary Williams either though. He says it like its a bad thing. I'd be happy to trade Cary for a player like Cody, Kruger, Rice, or Torrey.

Next year's draft has some nice safeties, ILB (Te'o) and of course some good LTs. With a 3rd round pick (probably his highest trade value) we could use that to move up in the draft to secure a Te'o or a Fluker or Henderson or something like that. People seem to think that 2nd round talent is second-rate. There's plenty of talent in the 2nd round. Wasn't VJax in the 2nd?

Of course you would be.

Freeney? Is that a joke or an actual possibility? I'm salivating just thinking of this!
Now that's the million dollar question. If it's not a real possibility, I think we should keep Cary. If it is, I hope Ozzie pulls the trigger.

I could see the pick being a conditional 3rd at the highest. I really don't see it being a 2nd, I like Cary but he's not a star, somebody lied.

did you really just get that from rick ross lol

I have mixed feelings about this trade if its true. Yea Williams isnt elite but hes solid and once he fully recovers he will be a force. In Ozzie we trust tho so you know whatever decision he makes will be the correct one.

I had to! I mean "John" was a pre-game anthem 2 seasons ago. Figured it's appropriate for Ravens talk, haha.

That was my first thought. If the Colts give us a high pick, we use it and move up to get Te'o and call it a day and finally get our new ILB for the next 15 years or so.

Agreed. Chykie really impressed me last night. I thought he was possibly on the bubble, but I thought he played really tight. Add Gorrer and Graham in, and we still have a solid unit without Cary. That doesn't even include Asa, who I thought played well, but will probably see his field time on ST.
Brown & Gorrer both impressed me last season when they got opportunities. Williams has not been impressing in the preseason so far. Jimmy isn't quite there yet though he did improve after getting schooled early last night. I think we'll be fine if we trade Williams. If we trade him for Freeney, even better.

If its for a 2nd/3rd rounder and Jerry Hughes or Freeney, I think the front office has to pull the trigger. Even without Cary, we have the best group of corners we've had in a LOONNGG time. Webb and Smith starting, Graham as the nickel (one of the reasons he signed with us was defensive playing time and he has looked pretty excellent so far for us), with Gorrer, Brown, and Jackson rotating in as the dime backs. Nothing against Cary, but just love that group with Ed and Bernard backing them up.

really liked cary but whatever is best for the team. i guess we just have to see how gorrer/graham respond to being in the game when teams force us to bring out more db's ala the pats, broncos, etc.

It's not that he's bad or horrible a la Fabian, Ivy etc. Just that we do have talent at the position and if we can get an additional pick or Freeney? It's a no brainer really.

been searching around and he isn't the only one being targeted by the colts. they have many choices. i do like gorrer/graham though. sacrificing coverage for pass rush is a good thing as long as you have good cb talent w/o him and we do.

We will lose Cary next year when he hits the market. I'm sure that's what would make the team consider it.
Agreed. He will want more money than we will be willing to pay. Might as well get something for him while we can.

Torry and Rice are the exceptions. Ravens dont have a good history with 2nd rounders for some reason.

I never said he WAS the reason why. With Reeds declined skills and spotty coverage, I would say Cary was a good part of the pass defense along with webb obviously. He was a LARGE factor in our pass defense last year, and that cannot be disputed. Even if JSmith comes on and plays at a pro bowl level, you need atleast 3 starting calibur corners to be able to defend against teams that run 3-4-5 WR/TE sets every play. Who is going to cover those huge pass catching TE and the slot? The days of nickel and dime corners who play a few snaps a game are long gone. I could almost see the game evolving to make the SS obsolete and adding 3rd corner, all things being equal.

Freeny is unrealistic, but is getting older. I could see it. But there second round pick would be one of the higher picks. And ik ppl are high on Teo, but let's face facts it will be harder to replace Reed (a one of a kind player) then Lewis (A once in a generation player). A safety is the leader of the secondary and the nfl is a passing leauge. A safety is higher on the list. It will be impossible for us to replace Lewis (and no the new generation isn't anyone in the leauge, Willis is good but will never be ray). All we need is a solid MLB. What we need is a damn good safety.

Now, I believe we should get Cary for someone, but we have a better chance of a SB with Williams bc our secondary is the best with him. But Freeny and Suggs and Kruger in the future. I would crap my pants if I was an opposing qb (in the future even tho Suggs will prob never b the same ever again)

I'm disappointed! You of all people! For shame!

But yeah, that deal would never happen. I'd be surprised if we could get a 2nd.

Omg this is great news! I like Cary hes been a good corner for us,but we even offered him a new contract but he turned it down and were not gonna give him anymore money then we already offered, plus hes gonna be on the market next year so no point in keeping him for just this season were good enough at corner even with out him, i say we do it for a high 2nd round pick and then we trade up in the 1st and get our replacement for Ray Lewis in Manti Te'o and have the middle linebacker position addressed for the next 10 or so years!!!!

Is this a joke? Freeney for Williams? really? The colts may want to unload his contract but they'd never be that stupid. Pagano may like Williams but I doubt he gets rid of arguably their best pass rusher for an average at best db (sorry cary). Seriously who started this nonsense. That being said I'd take a high pick for cary altho I doubt the colts are targeting cary.

Just read this in the ESPN comment section, pretty funny.

The Indianapolis Colts trade Andrew Luck to the Denver Broncos for Peyton Manning, and 2 future 1st round picks.
