Did I hear right?
After the two minute warning only the fumbeler can recover the ball?

Ah! That makes MUCH more sense.
The referee confused me.

He said what you thought he said. I had a WTH moment as well.

That's what he said but that's not what he meant.

Have to remember these guys and gals are replacements not everything they say will be correct. I was just pissed about the phantom pass interference we got but our wide outs couldn't get. I think it was Jones who got mugged on the sideline. I may be wrong if so please correct me.

Yup, shortly after that non-call, I believe it was Jimmy Smith that was flagged. I was watching the Jags' feed, even the announcers on there thought the Jags got away with one, and Smith didn't interfere.

There have been quite a few "confusing" moments with these refs so far. lol
Such as the Arizona Falcons......

That rule about not being able to advance the ball stems from the 'holy roller' play by the Raiders against the Chargers years ago. Worth looking up if you haven't seen it. Several Raider players kept marching a loose ball forward until one fell on it in the end zone, winning the game. Because of that play, even legitimate recoveries no longer matter if the team which fumbled the ball also recovers it.
