Espn Does It To Us Again

i was browsing on the ESPN forums and found this...
As a Browns fan, this one is tough to swallow. Getting beat by a better team is one thing. Tough to take, but the reality is the other team is better. Not the case here though. When you scheme yourself right out of the game by telegraphing the run strategy, then fail to adjust when it CLEARLY was not working, is ridiculous. Then you add poor play calling and awful execution by #17 and #3, and you have a recipe for disaster. Derek made some good plays today, but when he makes a bad decision, it is usually a nightmare decision. Just really poor. Browns could have put this away but got so conservative it was easy for the Ravens to get back in. No one to blame but themselves. It was there for the taking.
When you get beat you get beat. With this guys logic "better team" was out gained 427 yards to 274 yards, and let 2 rookies run all over their defense. Tell me again how the browns were the "better team"? I feel his pain though, as last year we had to deal with a lot of that bs

The bengals almost beat the Giants in what week 4 or 5 i think it was? They only won by an OT feild goal.. if the browns did it.. So CAN WE!! Eli is NOT good under pressure. Shut plexi glass out, rattle Eli.. game is in the bag. After watching us score 17 points in one QT... I believe anything in balt. is possiable!!

Haha I agree. I guess beating them twice means they are still the better team in that guy's mind. Today was great revenge for the field goal-debacle game last year that I was at. Cleveland always gives us problems in their own stadium, to pull out a come-from-behind win like we did is awesome.

I'm sure I will get blasted for saying this but honestly who the hell cares if ESPN didn't show Ravens highlights? ESPN anchors have admitted on MULTIPLE occasions that they show Cowboys/Giants/Yankees/Red Sox/etc etc more often because it is what gets ratings. I could care less if they show the Browns on a win or a loss.

I'm sorry I know you all are Ravens fans here but there are a LOT more fans of those other teams floating around the USA then Ravens AND Browns and almost any other NFL team. Most of them aren't even true fans IMO but that is another story.. it is how it is.

Your not gonna get blasted by me, I agree. There is a very small dedicated fan base for us, but in the grand scheme of things, its not what makes the $. Showing Dallas and their Diva's, and NE Pats, and the other "Sexy" teams is what brings people in for the most part. Football has hardcore fans for sure, for every team, the only thing is, when your not hardcore, you root for the winners, and the usual winners are Colts, Pats, NYG, Dallas etc. So therefore they get more airtime, it may not be right, but thats how it is. Fine with me, not like im gonna root for the Cowgirls and Squeelers because ESPN wants them in the Super Bowl every year...

I don't give a flying fart in space if the nation sees our highlights... Thats why we have nfl.com. Bandwagon fans make the NFL and ESPN a lot of money... I see it as practicing good business

Everyone said the G-men didnt have a chance to beat the pats either did they? One thing they did do was rattle Brady and put him on his back alot by hitting him whenever was legal.I think we are one of the perfect teams to do the same thing to Eli. While I'll agree, It would be a feat for us to win and I'd love to pull it off, its doubtful. If we were to win though, I do think we would finally begin to get noticed by others other than just our loyal fans.

I'm just having a hard time seeing our OL holding up against that uber group that the giants have. And once the OL goes, flacco is gonna make a ton of mistakes... but lets not discuss that now

Hopefully we will be healthier and more experienced, thus allowing us more time and etc. Lets worry about that in 2 weeks......

I rarely watch ESPN anymore, as I really don't give a sh** about the teams they choose to cover. I did happen to watch some yesterday, and I forget who the four panalists were, it was ESPN News - The Blitz, but one of them said something like, "Hey guys, are we off next week, I mean Dallas has a BYE and then we won't have anything to talk about!" I nearly rolled off my couch laughing so hard!

On another note, NFL Network has been more than fair to the Ravens! I pretty much watch them exclusively now for my football news! Who needs ESPN! Mariucci loves Flacco and is constantly ranting and raving about him, and the two guys on AFC Playbook, I think its Brian Baldinger & Sterling Scharpe, nearly always pick the Ravens and spend a good deal of time breaking down their match-up. If you want to see some Ravens love, forget ESPN and check out the NFL Network!

Mooch loves Flacco and this was the 3rd time he used him for the Coach them up segment, and he was commenting how Flacco is seeing everything he should be seeing now.

I dont really care. Im used to not seeing the Ravens Highlights on their show. I only watch it because they show football stuff. Which is like the best for me because of where I live. So any football here is great.

As I speak, they're doing a five+ minute segment on Flacco on NFL Live. Dilfer and co. are saying that he will be great.

Cut the bull.

Well. Im at work right now so damn. Im missing it and thats a first though.

Its true though Ravnet. What about the stuff our defense has done time and time again.
When the offense finally comes out they give our team 5 minutes.
What about the defense?

So its not all bull Ravnet.

Oh, goodness. Just like Derek Anderson was suppossed to be the real deal. I hate the talking heads. I hate that they dont show Ravens highlights but I really would prefer if they keep their anaylsis of the Ravens and our players to a minimum.

Cant say I'd blame him. Wins the SB and we cut him. I'm split on the decision honestly, I just think a vet would still have been good here after that year , who knows

He should be happy that we allowed him to come here and ride our coat tails to a Superbowl win.

I'm just trying to dispel the myth that the Ravens never get any media coverage. On a Sunday night, there are bigger stories than the Ravens, and SportsCenter is only what, 60 minutes long? I just don't understand the people who bash ESPN for not showing Baltimore Ravens highlights. The network claims to be the worldwide leader in sports, although we know they primarily cover football/basketball/baseball, so are you mad that they don't devote substantial time to cycling outside of the Tour de France? Obviously if the Ravens were a great storyline that a national audience wanted to hear about, ESPN would cover them extensively because it would be in their best interests. It's so naive to think that the network has something against the city or the team.

That was not directed at you, Rayvenfan, it was just a general rant.

Another factor is the game just doesn't get attention to begin with. Based on last year we are at the bottom of the watch list for games largely getting coverage on who we are playing. We have 1.5 national games and I think they are the only ones getting much coverage outside of the teams markets.

Edit: Not that ESPN doesn't suck though.

ESPN does have Monday night football but I watch NFL Net for my football news. ESPN is the jack of all trades mean while NFL Net is the master of NFL news. They do have 32 team cams. Who else has that?

I always go to NFL.com and they show some stuff from the Ravens.

I dont know how people can say the wrong names though. Look for top 10 plays and watch the video.
The lady says "Michael" Clayton.

Atleast he got a play on there.

I totally "get" why we aren't covered more by the media - we haven't really impressed them by beating the "big" teams, yet. But it's frustrating when you are feeling so excited that your team is playing well [by your standards] and you watch the wrap-up shows hoping to see them say wonderful things about your team and they don't. We forget that WE are excited because we didn't expect to see our offense improve this much and maybe we didn't expect a great season, but the media isn't excited because they are bottom line people.

So, I get the frustration, hurt, and let-down when we aren't covered like we would love to be, but, if I think logically instead of emotionally, it makes sense. <_<
