Espn Does It To Us Again

69 posts in this topic

ok, im getting really frustrated with espn lately. im an out of state fan and i watch the games at a bar so the only audio i get is of the bucs or dolphins games. so the only real news and highlights i get for our team is on espn. well last week i watched for 3 days straight waiting to see something of the raiders game and nothing. this week they show the terrell suggs int for td and chris berman says "we cant show much of the game but baltimore wins 3 in a row." meanwhile they have 45 minutes of wade phillips talking out his rear end and t.o. about to shed some tears on us. two division rivals go head to head in a smashmouth football game and we get 5 seconds of highlights. what the crap??? hopefully mike and mike will have something tomorrow morning because if they dont im boycotting espn.

This is getting cumbersome. ESPN and other television networks have no interest in showing Ravens games because no one outside of Baltimore cares. People around the country love to see the Cowboys squirm, and as a result, ESPN makes more money. Is it really that confusing?

ESPN has no obligation to the fans or to be subjective at all, they are a money making business. Do you really care about a smashmouth football game between St. Louis and San Francisco?

It annoys me def. as a Ravens fan. I won't deny that we aren't as big of a draw as some other teams, but some of our plays have been amazing and should get more attention. We are a 5-3 team in the hunt for the AFC North title and they still won't show barely any of our game.

Yeah, from now on I am just going to assume ESPN isnt going to cover the Ravens game and I am not going to watch. They wasted so many time blabbering about the Cowboys, Giants, Titans and Favre that they really didnt cover any of the games except those 3. My hatred of ESPN grows.

Another thing is... we havent really beat an "ELITE" team, we lose to the steelers & titans... If we beat a team like the Giants in week 11 I see us getting some love on Espn.. depending of course.. on how well or bad the game goes, although you'll probablly hear more if we lose horriably than if we win barley or lose in the final seconds.

-Dallas could have the biggest fanbase in the NFL.

-The Giants are from New York.

-The Titans are 8-0.

-Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever.

I don't get it, these guys are obviously going to get all the air time. No one cares about how the Ravens are 5-3 because they are from a relatively small market.

its not so much that they arent talking about us thats frustrating, its the fact that we have won 3 in a row and not one thing but the cowboys have won 1 out of 3 and they get an hour and a half. or the dolphins get a full highlight reel of their win over denver. thats why i care.

I'm an out of state fan as well, but I usually go to NFL.com for my Ravens highlights. But most of the time I watch the Ravens game on the internet.

Also, ESPN only talks about teams like Cowboys, and Patriots. Both teams that are struggling this season. I don't think they have talked about the Titans much either and their 8-0. Now last season when the Pats were 8-0 all I heard was "Pats 8-0! Can they go undefeated?" No love for the poor Titans. lol

Anyway, ESPN really needs to show ALL the teams highlights. Not four hours of the Cowboys losing highlights and 30 seconds of all the other teams.

i think the media was trying to get past the whole spygate ordeal last year thats why they blew up the patriots undefeated streak. plus they were killing teams and the titans have just squeeked by a few.

Then you're in the minority. And if you're in the minority, you're not bringing in the majority of viewers. Confusing, right?

The fanbases of those 3 teams and Favre combined are not bigger then the fanbases of the other 28 teams in the NFL combined.

Joe Flacco and the Ravens "demand respect" is or something of the such is on the front page of espn.com, but they make their hatered of the Ravens obvious by refusing to show Ravens highlights.

i know u gotta watch espn 2 or 3 times to see the ravens for 5 sec but they love to show dallas or the giants all day long maybe we need an over paid loud mouth reciver whos having a bad year and then maybe we will get some spot light . so mabye this off season we should sign chad ocho cinco johnson and over pay him, hope that he has a horrible year and then we can get on espn saying how we over paid him and hes upset cause hes not cathing the ball and hes bringing the whole team down. um no thatnks lol

I agree with you. It's always the same teams they talk about for a reason. If you get pissed off about the lack of coverage, become a Dallas fan, you'll never feel dissatisfied. We aren't the only team that gets blanked. I have yet to see highlight clips for the majority of NFL teams. Kansas City, Oakland, Buffalo, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Etc. Etc. But if it makes people happy thinking that the NFL hates us, then eat it up. It doesn't make a difference I'm a fan either way.

I KNOW RIGHT  , I feel your pain I wake up every morning the next day at 6 and watch the espn highlights. I knew that the sports stations (ESPN, NFL network) dont care or show much about the

Ravens but I dont get why they dont show more then 2 plays. For example last week after the raiders game they showed, I think 2 or 3 plays and for those of you who watched know that there should have

been more plays shown then that. For some reason they dont show the Ravens any respect. In fact just to day I heard a tv station saying how Matt Ryan is guaranteed the rookie of the year.

Flacco has shown great improvement and if he continues on this path I would make him rookie of the year. The thing that makes me the most mad is them always picking us to lose.

Only thing I can tell you is to get some cable provider with the games highlights and screw ESPN/NFL network, let them keep under estimating just like the other teams :P

Well they are first in the tough NFC east, and defending Superbowl champions. We are still only second in the AFC east. Right now we are only beating the teams we are suppose to beat, we have yet to win a statement game. 2 games against Browns, 1 against the Bengals, 1 against the Oakland Raiders and a win against the Dolphins. We've lost to the Steelers, Titans and Colts. We have a long way to go in proving ourselves as a team to beat.

Our real test will come in playing the Giants, Redskins and Steelers. Those would be statement wins.

Yeah I was gonna say this too, I was surprised from the NFL Network. They actually had a bit of a discussion about us after they played the highlights. Complemented Flacco too... Wow Shocking! :o

ESPN is terrible, I refuse to watch them anymore. They can sulk on Womo and crybaby TO all they want. No respect for those guys.

I disagree. This team has already made a statement. ESPN and most of the national media only had us winning five games this year and had us pegged as just being non competitive, we've already won the number of games that we were expected to and save for one game we've been very competitive.

Maybe. But it will def. make the statement that the ravens are STILL here. I honestly dont watch but maybe 20 min. of ESPN a day.. I enjoy NFLN much better.

Ravnet is right. Think about it -- why should ESPN care about covering the Ravens, even after a three game winning streak?

Who have the Ravens beaten in their five victories again? The Bengals, the Browns, the Dolphins, the Raiders, and the Browns again.

Until Baltimore starts beating elite teams SOUNDLY, there's no reason for a big media outlet like ESPN to care. And the Ravens are coming off of a 5-11 record just last season, so why would you expect them to start caring not even a year after the fact?

The Ravens aren't the only teams getting shafted in media coverage. Think about how often you hear (positive things) about the 49ers and Raiders (excluding their off-field drama). What about the Texans, outside of Hurricane Ike? The Chiefs? The Jaguars? Cardinals? Seahawks? Bills? Lions? Rams?

The Titans are only getting love right now because they're the only undefeated team right now -- but they're not even as respected as the 7-1 New York Giants (mainly because the Giants are defending world champions in the biggest market in the league).

I'm an out-of-state fan, too, but I don't get worked up because ESPN doesn't cover the Ravens. There's always the internet, and there's always NFL Network. And if nothing else, there's always the scoreboard to brag about to your friends after every win.

Fans have found ways to be proud before the widespread popularity of ESPN, y'know...

If all else fails, then *see bolded words in sig below*
