Lardarius Webb Is True Class

He is an absolute hero. Totally classy guy.

Some of you might recall this story, some of you have never herd this story.

A few years ago my daughter would make get well cards for any of the RAVENS that got hurt. We would send them to the castle and hope for the best.
We never got a responce but that never detered her.
Well when Webb blew his knee out my daughter did as she always had, made him a get well card. She was eight at the time.
Before we could send it we found out he was doing a signing at the mall near us, so I told her she should hand deliever it.

So the night comes and we go to the mall and the tickets are all sold out :(
My daughter is about in tears, she was SO looking forward to giving him the card.
I talked to the guy running the event and asked if she could just go in and give him the card, he said it wasnt his descision to make. But then he went to take to some guy, who I will assume was Webbs agent. The guy waved my daughter in, and right up to the table where Webb was signing. Webb broke out with the biggest smile and read the card right there in front of her. Then, blown up knee and all stood up and gave her a big hug. At which point that manager came up to me and asks if I am her father and I said yes and he said " Am I to understand you could not get a ticket in time ? " I said yeah. He reched into his pocket and handed me a ticket and said "This one is on the house. "
So my daughter came back out, beaming mind you, and I show her the ticket and she is now even more excited.
So we get in line and wait, its a long freaking line.
We get up to Webb about an hour later, and he see her and smiles at her. She hands him the football and he signs it
"Arielle, thanks for the card. Your friend always Lardarius Webb 21 "
You could not wipe the smile off my kids face for nothing. For weeks, and months this is all she talked about. That Christmas we had, HAD to get her a custom Webb jersey since they were not making them that year. She wore it all the time. He made her a fan for life.

So tonight Webb was doing a signing near by and we decide to visit him again. Now this was three years ago and if you know any thing about kids you know they grow like weeds. She was eight then she is eleven now. I told her he probably wont regonize you.
So we get up to the table and I say "Webb, do you regonize this kid? " He kinda gave a "not really, " sort of look, then my daughter said "I gave you a get well card... " Well Lardarius smiled ear to ear and got all excited, " yeah yeah I remember !! " He told her he keeps that card in his locker and its still there today. He thanked her again and actually shook her hand three times. He even commented her on her Webb jerzey she was wearing.
And yet again she is on cloud nine.

Stuff like this make me proud. Proud of Lardarius, proud of the RAVENS. This guy is my daughters hero, and he is being SO cool and kind about it. He really doesnt have to, but he does. People like this make people fans for life. Not just for my daughter, but me and my wife as well as all three of us have Webb jerseys.

I dont know if Webb get on thses boards, but if he does THANK YOU Lardarius. You are a class act and a true hero. Thank you for all you do.
(Now just make sure you get a pick on Brady and Garlic-burger !!! ) :)

Great story! I love hearing things like this about our players. Especially this offseason with all the player arrests on other teams. Proud Ravens fan.

It's stories like this that make me proud to be a Ravens fan. Webb is just such a huge player for us and like most other(if not all) Ravens players, a class act.

This is one of those stories I hope LFW picks up so more people could see it.

That would be awesome.

When this first happend way back when I wrote a letter to the F.O. telling them what a classy player Webb was.
Since then I take every opportunity to tell any one I can with in the RAVENS orgonisation that story.
I even sent a letter to Harbough FB page. No telling if he read it or not.
Actions like that really should not go un noticed.

Wow. This story is awesome in so many ways. First of all, your daughter is definitely a Raven. For life. Making a get well card for every player who gets hurt is just incredible. Also, Lardarius is such a class act for the way he handled it. I don't think that many NFL players would be as nice as this, but then again, Webb isn't a normal NFL player, he's a Baltimore Raven. Finally, I gotta give props to you, as the father. She'll never forget the experience, I assure you that. Man, reading this makes me proud to be a Ravens fan.

And to think he had character concerns coming out in the draft in 09. Apparently no one ever talked to the kid other than Ozzie.

I know I say it a lot, but... I love my team. And I love my players. Even more when they do something like this.

What a great story. I've had the pleasure of running into Lardarius quite a few times and he always had a smile on his face when interacting with fans, especially the little ones. He's definitely a favorite.

Almost got choked up reading that. You can just tell Webby is a really nice guy. So proud of our players and the Ravens organization. If we could only bring home that superbowl ring.

Thanks for the story, K-Dog.
