Less tackles doesn't mean he's better. And that's a lot of pics lol.
lol, i know. the man is going to be 28-29 next year wanting more money when we have a 50mil CB and a first round pick breathing down his neck.

Smart? To pass up $5M a year when you've been a journeyman CB in the NFL for 4 or 5 years? Riiiiggghhttttt
Hey someone over paid for Bart Scott, why wouldn't they Williams? Being a member of the Ravens defense has some kind of mystique, so I bet his thought process is on the open market that along will help garner more attention. The CB market in the NFL isn't that strong right now anyway. It's a gamble but I don't blame him for testing the market atleast, yes he is a journeyman which make even more sense for him to test market to try to maxuimize his dollar.

I don't see a problem with paying Williams 15 to 20 million as long as he continues to improve. He won't see Webb's level of salary unless he turns it up a notch. Besides, Webb is a very good punt returner too.

I have to say this may be good for both sides.
Should he perform this season, he may deserve more.
However, from what I have seen thus far...he may be taking a discount upon the conclusion of the season. But, I would love nothing more than see him supersede expectations!

I am not as in the know as some of you guys but has Cary Williams ever done anything to even demonstrate he deserves more than what was placed on the table?
Maybe it's just me, but $15M for 3 years ain't all that bad...

Personally, I thought Williams was adequate as a CB. He got burned sure, but most CB's do. THis is the NFL. Receivers can make plays too.

Is he worth 15 mill? IMO no. He should have taken the deal but just because he said no, doesn't mean he can't come back after seeing what else he can get after this season. No harm in it IMO. I think he will realize how good he has it in Baltimore.

Not sure if it means anything at all, as it seems like pure speculation at this point. But I just came across this tidbit on rotoworld.com, so I figured I'd post it here:

"A reliable source tells the Indianapolis Star the player the Colts are pursuing in trade talks is a cornerback.

Owner Jim Irsay's comments suggest the trade target is a veteran looking for a new contract, which leaves the Ravens' Cary Williams as the most likely candidate. Williams reportedly turned down a three-year, $15 million offer before training camp, and the Ravens have depth in 2011 first-rounder Jimmy Smith. CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora confirms the Colts have had no talks with the Cowboys about Mike Jenkins' (shoulder) availability."

interesting..seems like if they really were talking to us and we were talking to them about trading cary, we probably would of held him out of this game. I don't like giving away corners because depth at that position is very important, but a second pick and possibly a 3rd or 4th might be tempting

I strongly doubt we'd get anything close to a 2nd, nevermind a 3rd or 4th along with it. On that note, I don't see the FO trading him away. I was just a little surprised by the article.

Honestly, if the Colts give us a 2nd for Williams, I'm just going to laugh all the way to 2013 Draft. I saw the tweets from Jim Irsay saying they were pursing a veteran/starter and my first thought was Mike Wallace. Then I saw they were looking for a Corner and it mentioned Cary and if the Colts want to let us perform a high way robbery on them by giving us a second for Cary, I won't complain.

I can see them trying to get Cary. There's a lot of connections. Starter CB? Check. Chuck Pagano connection? Check. Veteran who wants a new contract? Check. There is a lot of potential here. The only question mark is that Cary is playing. We'll see. I will be happy if we trade Williams and get a very good pick. Perhaps that's why we played Cary, because we don't like their offer. Or perhaps this has nothing to do with us, lol.

Regardless, I will be happy if he stays or leaves. I do think our CB group is crowded and I can see someone going elsewhere.

I'm not saying we would, i'm just saying if they offered that us a second and another pick, it'd be hard to say no

I understand. But that statement is overly obvious. For example, if I stated that I'd gladly accept a 1st round selection for LaQuan Williams, I wouldn't be mistaken. But it wouldn't be necessary for me to even speak of, as it would just be a moot point.

Now I just read that it may either be a CB or a Offensive Lineman. They can take Michael Oher and they give us Castonzo while they give us a 2nd for Cary lol.

You mean the same Anthony Costanzo that Suggs embarrassed last year. Oher isn't Jonathan Ogden but he is a lot better than a lot of tackels out there. The Jets would kill for him.
Yup because laquan for a 1st is the same as a 2nd for Cary. One is a starter with the Ravens defense and the other is a backup for the offense. Exactly the same.

Appreciate the sarcasm. Both are examples of overstatements. That was the only point of my post. Cary isn't worth anywhere near a 2nd. LaQuan isn't worth anywhere near a 1st. Thanks for the insightful input though.

Are both overstatements? Yes. That's the only thing that matters, given that I called it an overstatement and nothing else. If it wasn't an overstatement, then you'd have a point. And it's you're welcome. At least try to spell correctly if you want to seem intelligent.

LOL at spelling corrections with your troll face. Maybe Laquan for a 3rd round would have made more sense but you said 1st. So in all one overstatement was way out there when the other was a lot closer to reality. So it makes no sense to think that your 2 overstatements are even close to the same thing.
