Jets struggles

80 posts in this topic

Just read on Rotoworld that through two pre-season contests, Sanchez has gone 13 for 17 for 80 yards (4.71 YPA), no touchdowns, and a pick-six. He's also absorbed six sacks in 23 dropbacks. RT Wayne Hunter gave up four last night...

Reports are that Dustin Keller has been their most reliable receiver with Holmes missing the majority of camp.

There's the Tebow situation and CB Antonio Cromartie is taking reps at WR.

Bravo Rex...

I laughed so loud when tebow threw that brick at a wide open receiver in the end zone. Of I were a jet fan I would have thrown up last night.

There's a guy at my bar that says tebow will eventually go to the Hall of Fame, smh.

Maybe he meant the pearly gates.

Sanchez hasn't attempted a pass beyond ten yards (or if he did, I didn't see it) and has been holding onto the ball too long. Even on those passes he's been inaccurate, hence a rookie linebacker picking him off on a short pass.

Even worse than the Jets' offense is this article, which puts the entire blame of their catastrophic ineptitude on Wayne Hunter, which includes this gem:
http://www.nfl.com/n...HP11_hot_topics
Yes, Sanchez threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, a trait that plagued and doomed both him and the team in the regular season last year. Yes, it was a poor decision, made worse by poor fundamentals. But Sanchez was spooked by a couple of quarters of being treated like a ragdoll because of Hunter's wretched play.
Sanchez was playing scared, so it can't be his fault, right?

According to that article, titled "Wayne Hunter is Jets' problem, not Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez",
Tim Tebow can't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
Yes, clearly the fault is all on the right tackle.

Jets are a mess....

How did you do this link thing? Tebow situation

It's a shame that the Jets wasted all those talents. Jets used to have a top 10 O-line, top 10 Rushing, and top 10 defense. What happened with all that talent.

Mangini built that team. Rex squandered it.

They let Thomas Jones leave. They drafted Sanchez. Poor QB play really killed their 2 shots at a SB. He's extremely mediocre. Actually he struggles to be just that. The Jets organization knows how horrid Sanchez is yet they are in complete denial and it showed with that 40M dollar extension he got with zero merit. Shonn Greene is not a top tier RB yet he is on the first team and the Jets have not addressed that problem either

What bugs me is anytime I'm watching espn I see on the side bar, "Jets Camp" on a daily basis. Why in the Sam hell do they garner any attention when they are a pathetic excuse for a team.

Since Rex took over, Espn has shown us on a daily basis, the slow and painful death of the new York jets

Tebow Magic at work, even though it didn't really have to do much since Sanchez sucked already. Tebow will be the starter before Week 4.

Talent at the o line was lost. The rushing was dependent on the o line talent. The Jets D did finish about the same tho.

The problem really is that they screwed up this draft. They saw last year that Hunter, and Slauson were problems on the o line. Yet they did absolutely nothing to address it in the draft. A team committed to the run must have a good o line for that strategy to work. Sanchez, as mediocre as he can be, can win games for his team when he has time to throw and a running game to work with. He wont be an elite qb, but theres no reason he cant be Alex Smith or better with those factors. The Jets had a chance to grab Decastro, had a chance to grab Schwarts, Adams etc... They chose not to and spent early picks on the following

1. Quinton Coples - a good pass rusher no doubt, but the Jets D was fine and Ryan gets to the qb through schemes anyway. Could have had Decastro here.

2. Stephen Hill - this had to be a future pick to me. They couldnt expect more than Demaryius Thomas level production from him out of his first year at best. He is too raw to contribute in any way shape or form that they are expecting out of him.

Honestly if they had drafted the way the Steelers did in this past draft, we may be talking about the Jets as a serious team in that division. The problem is that the front office doesnt know how to prioritize its needs, and Rex Ryan needs to get his head out of his rear and realize that even with the number one defense in the league, if the offense doesnt socre they are done. I expect the team to suck and blow up this year, but be on the resurgence next year when the realize that the o line needs to be fixed.

Tebows miss to the corner of the endzone was just embarressing

Jets don't have a 1 and a 2 QB

Not sure what number I'd put on it but it's not a good situation

Oline struggling too, the teams main asset has gone downhill badly

I'm trying not to read too much into their struggles yet. We've all seen teams stink up the preseason and go on to having good regular seasons.

Because he's so polarized. It's not like he asks for it though.

It's called a football life, c'mon. Have you seen its normal subject matter? People who have dedicated thier entire lives to the game.

Just make a tebow special and be done with it.

Mangini built that team. Rex squandered it.
Mike Singletary had a huge part in building the 49ers defense back in the day...but he couldn't coach them to be what they are now.

What I'm trying to say is, Rex is a top 3 DC in the NFL. They've been top 5 since he got there. So Rex didn't squander the team.
The Jets were the #1 rushing team in 2009, #4 in 2010, and last year declined to 22nd. So they have had a good system in place the last 3 years. The biggest mistake he has made so far is investing a 1st round pick in Sanchez. And when you draft a QB that high in the first, your basically forced to stay with him for a few years.

But you can't put all the blame on Rex. Everyone in their front office was for drafting Sanchez. Granted Rex shouldn't have talked so much, (which I thought was blown out of proportion). And the Jets also messed up resigning Sanchez long term.

I guess it was because Sanchez had his best year last year statiscally, and it looked like he was starting to get better. (Still sucks though). Even though Sanchez had his best year passing, it still hurt the Jets team overall. But you can't blame it all on Rex, at the end of the day the GM makes the final decision. Regardless of how much influence Rex has.

Lol, in all fairness he has dedicated a huge part of his life to football. (Just like everyone else in the NFL) but all his life people said he would never make it. Tebow beat the odds, there has never been a QB with his skillset that creates so much buzz, and has got it done like he does.

Ok. I forgot how much you <3 Tebow so it's pointless talking about this with you. ;)

I'm not upset because Tebow per say got an episode. I'd be pissed if they did a cam Cameron episode. Or a Dennis pitta episode. Or anyone else that doesn't meld with what the show is supposed to be about.

Al Davis, mike ditka, Walter Peyton, Reggie Lewis. This is the type of subject matter on the show. Not third year players. That's my point.

I thought they would get one off a big running play somewhere, but the Jets may very well not score a touchdown this preseason. Mark Sanchez only has another drive or so left before he's done til week 1. Then it's all Tebow and further backups.
