Best Game Ever?

29 posts in this topic

Was this the best Ravens game ever? I'd put it at number 2 behind that ridiculous game (Marcus Robinson) against the Seahawks in....2002? Honorable mentions are the Chargers game in ...06?, where Heap beat Merriman for a TD at the end, the '00 Jaguars game (Shannon Sharpe at the end), and the Super Bowl by default. Despite the outcome, the Pats game last year was pretty awesome, too.

Jacksonville Game back in the day, UNBELIEVABLE.
I was at the stadium...it was the first time we beat them, and set us on our way to the SB win!

Yeah, it's hard not to say the Super Bowl just because of its outcome, though the game itself looked like men vs. boys, so it was sort of anticlimactic after Stokley burned Sehorn. Hard to balance the significance of the SB vs. the excitement of the other ones. Of course, there have been a lot of great defensive struggles, but even as a lover of defense, it's hard not to remember the shootouts the most.

Worst game ever had to be that one where we gave up like 3 touchdowns to the Bengals in the 4th quarter about 3 years ago. Well, the Colts playoff game was brutal, too.

I agree the SB was definitely the greatest but this is perhaps the greatest inter division game yet on the road.

Today's game was definitely one of the best Ravens games. Super Bowl was absolutely the best, but this one was awesome

Super bowl was the best, but todays game ranks very high on the best games list.

well the super bowl win will always be # 1 so now lets just talk regular season games . this has to be # 1for a few reasons . we swept a divison opponet, our team was down 14 pts and our offense put us back in this game, doing this with a new coaching staff sticking to our game plan and the experience flacco gained in this game and flacco showing how fast hes becoming a verry good QB . and add on the fact that we played with a 2nd string secondary .i think this showed a new face of ravens football. we are no longer a 1 sided team we no longer wait for our defense to do something . this team is growing in experience and heart on both sides of the ball.

I would rank the one 2006 Steelers game high on my list. Seeing Ben eat turf is just as fun as a high powered O. This is definitely the best game our O has had.

if you rank this as one of the "best" ravens games ever, you havent seen many ravens games....i wouldnt put this one in the top 15 or 20. Its good to get a win against a rival and divisional rival. And this game is fresh in our minds..but not one of the best.

Agreed - Seahawks & Ravens = #1 - awsome game & the stadium even though 1/2 empty in OT was rocking!

This game - probably #2.

I hate to say it but in my opinion the best RAVENS game ever was actually a loss.

Against the Pats last year. The best team in the NFL on Monday night against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Not that night my friend. Not that night. One of the best against one of the best.

How about the Titans game in 2000 when we became the first to beat them in their new house. I watched it with my dad who is a Titans fan. I lost my mind when Del Greco missed the extra point, and then further lost it when he had a chance to kick the game winner and missed THAT as well. To this day he is my favorite non-Raven for all the help he gave us in that game and the playoff game.

i beg to differ. Our O stepped up, which is not usual. After our O stepped up and scored I think this inspired our D to step up. Usually our D is the win factor, but not today. I think our O took it up a notch. Which is just what we need as a team. Effective O and D is essential to us winning games through the season

anybody who would say that was the best game ever only saw that one game . that game was a fluke anothy wright came in a threw a couple tds but he never did that again. this is a new era in ravens football. its all the things that everybody on here has been saying we needed like a new coach, better clock managment, better QB, better Oline, more scoring , and your going to mention some fluke game that happend 5 years ago that ment nothing . what the heck. and by the way where is anthony wright now last i heard he was with dallas but who cares.

Thats like saying today's win was a fluke as well since Edwards dropped the wide open pass, and the corner fell down to leave Mason an easy stride to the endzone......Everyone has their opinion, lets let people have theirs.

I was at the Seattle game and STAYED, which alot of people left when it was 34-17 with 6 mins left in the 3rd qurtr, so that game is very memorable a come back win in OT.

Tony Banks thru 5 td passes in the win vs jax in 2000, 39-36 when we scored a td with 40secs left. That win was also memorable cuz we had always lost to the jaguars and finally won, and of course set the tone for the super bowl year.

IMO i dont see this as a "memorable" win. Maybe cuz I have season tickets and most of my Best games ever take place at home while im there.

p.s. Id also put the Patriots game up there as well, was a great game, we were like 21pt underdogs and was about to beat the "undeafeted team".

I've seen every Ravens regular and preseason game, dunce. Thank you for the lesson on temporal objectivity.

We definitely proved who we are on the world stage at Super Bowl 35. The Seahawks game was our greatest comeback and our last one shows how close we are as a team. We were missing at least 6 starters and only 1 starter in our secondary. McGahee, Rolle, CMac, Landry, Gregg, Yanda, (Terry?).

I also have fond memories of the MNF game against the Broncos in 2002. We scored 31 points in the second quarter alone after being down by 3 points. Chris Redman threw two TDs to Heap, Jamal took one in, we drove 81 yards in 4:30 minutes for a Stove Top FG, then CMac returned that a missed field goal for 108 yards! That was a MNF record! I know Cromartie holds the record with a 109 return but I think this record still stand for MNF.

That Seahawks game wasn't a fluke if you knew we had another 44 point game right after that one and Anthony Wright and Marcus Robinson did help us go to the playoffs. Wright went 5-2 after taking over. Previously we were 5-4 with Boller.

Some other great games:

Our first game when we beat the Raiders (19-14) Baltimore finally having a football team was incredible.

Beating the Titans 24-23 in 2000.

Jamal running for 295 yards against the browns in 2003 (33-13)

The Giants game 2004 (37-14 Ravens!) Boller threw for 4 TDs. Yes! Boller!! And our D forced 6 turnovers.

The Browns game in 2004 (27-13 Ravens) when Ed Reed returned an interception 106 yards to solidify him as the best safety in the NFL.

2005 We dominate the Packers who wrote us off (48-3)

Both Steeler games in 2006 (27-0),(31-7) They turned the ball over 6 times and gave up 23 sacks.

Obviously our SuperBowl win.

But if I had to pick another game I would still go back to the 2000 season. The game against the Titans where we beat them in Tennesse on a missed Al DelGreco field goal. It was a defining moment for that team under Trent Dilfer and IMO catapulted them through the rest of the season.

Trent throws a critical interception which was returned for a TD. Then with a little over 3 minutes left Trent orchastrates a drive which finds Patrick Johnson in end zone for a "tip toe" TD reception before being knocked out of bounds.

Then somehow our special teams gives the Titans excellent field position on the ensuing kickoff. A couple plays later the Titans easily get within DelGreco's range (remember the name automatic Al?) The guy never missed! Well the Ravens had blocked one of his earlier FG attempts. It was obviously enough to make the guy "overthink" the FG and in turn he was wide on the kick and the Ravens won.

I remember Trent "crying" at the end of that game during the "on field" interview.

IMO it was that game that showed me that this team had what it took to "go all the way". You have to remember that how important that win was. The Titans ended up winning our division and we won the Superbowl as a wildcard team with 12-4 record. I have to take a look back but I'm not sure if 11-5 gets us into the playoffs that year. Not to mention that the road to the Superbowl had to go through Tennesse and we already knew that we could be that Titans in their house when no one else could.
