Sergio Kindle?

McClellan isn't explosive, maybe a touch quicker than JJ and has a nice bullrush despite his size and the jury is out on Upshaw until he is healthy. Kindle is the fastest speed rusher on the team and is explosive off the edge, he just can't bullrush anyone.

I agree whole heartedly. Pees is either going to pull a Mattison on us, except with more creative zone blitz schemes because he can rely on Webb to at least somewhat hold his own on an island, unlike Mattison who could rely on zero corners to cover anyone. Or, Pees is going to go Rex Ryan on us and blitz 6 every 3rd down to generate some pressure because the entire OLB corps has looked like crap in the preseason. Kruger is soft on the edge and hasn't generated much pressure, Upshaw has been underwhelming to say the least half the time I wonder if he's even diagnosing the play quick enough he just kind of goes with the flow of plays, Kindle is the same way with less power to him so he gets pushed around when he tries to sit on a play, McClellan has played ok but we are fooling ourselves if we think he can come in and do anything of significant pass rush or run stop ability day in day out.
Yeah man we really miss Sizzle right now! I hope these things improve before the Bengals come to town. We also face not good but great QB's this year I'm really worried about the pass rush.

I know Merriman has not looked like the Merriman of old but I'm concerned in this area of our game right now. I would not be against such a move.
He's not his old self at all but from what we're showing we should test him out

I think we will try to pick up a pass rusher when the cuts begin.

If our pass rush is gonna be this bad without Sizzle, Joe is gonna have
To score 7-14 more points a game for us . Geez!

I like the guy but he didnt impress me at all last night... I hope we keep him for another year since as said before this is his first true year to develop on the field.. but this 53 is going to be tough despite the fact that suggs is on PUP. If suggs were here right now i dont see Kindle making it. just my 2 cents.

Kindle looked more lost than beat. He seemed like he didn't know where to be. He wasn't terrible because he just looked like he didn't know where to go.

As for Upshaw I don't remember seeing him in the game and if he was in the game he had no impact.

Chavis Williams did OK but he looked more like a PS player than a back-up or anything more than that.

Albert McClellan set the edge rather well and displayed good decisions. In my opinion he was our best OLB last night.

And as for Paul Kruger...I was really disappointed. I had big expectations for Kruger. I know this is his first year starting but I felt like he would at least do something to rush the passer.

None of these guys are perfect, but I've seen a 12oz bottle of Coke with more pressure than any of our OLBs last night. I think it's time to go to free agency. The biggest problem with these OLBs is that they don't even cover or set the edge well. I really hope we get someone. Carter would be a nice addition.

Kindle will make the team becaue
We might need him considering upshaw always being injured since the pads came on
Kindle will make the team because Suggs is hurt and Upshaw has shown he gets hurt every other time he gets hit.

I'm just shocked that even in preseason Kindle hasn't really flashed or showed anything, I remember last year in the preseason I was excited because I saw him come close to blocking a Punt in one game, after reading all the positive reports on here about camps, I thought for sure Kindle would be flying around the edge after a few QBs this preseason.. At least become a situational pass rusher in the regular season, but all of that seems like distant thoughts. I'm not sure how the other LBs have performed that are competiting with Kindle for a roster spot.....

We need to trade for someone... I feel like we are missing that one element from our D being great. I dont think its wise to gamble and take chances on washed up pass rushers. We need a stud. Osi trade anyone?

The fact that Upshaw has been as bad as Kindle
Increases the odds Kindle makes the team .

Wow , two high 2nd round picks that look like
doo doo .

Well Upshaw is a rookie, so I wouldn't be that worried about him. Kindle is a tragedy. So I'm not loosing faith in the front office yet. That being said, if we don't make the playoffs I'd rather have a top 10 pick than 1 win away from the playoffs. I either want a superbowl or a really high draft pick exclusively for a pass rusher.

Torrey looked the same way in the preseason last year. Give it a few games in the regular season before you stick a fork into BOTH of them.

Our defense is more than a pass rusher away from being "great".

What else are we missing on D besides a consistant pass rush?

Upshaw has been a major disapointment from what I've seen and read so far. The eye test tells me he needs to dedicate himself more to the program but he's just starting the journey. Here's hoping this summer was a big learning experience for him.

It still burns my behind that Antwan Barnes isn't on this team. I can assume he found his way into the doghouse and was never able to escape.

Kindle is a non entity as far as I'm concerned, a wasted pick. The Ravens front office gambled on a need and blew it. That said they're still great at what they do.

Yeah I never understood the Barnes release. Yeah he's undersized but he could rush the QB.

Sean Taylor was a bust too then. I wouldn't have called a guy falling down stairs and fracturing his skull. It was an accident and an injury it happens.

Blew it? the guy fell down some stairs, how is Ozzie responsible for that? nobody could have predict that could have happened, he was a steal its just unfortunate what happened

I think we shouldnt talk about undersized players...the hardest working players are undersized...especially at linebacker...fletcher and our very own ray lewis are under size i saw ray standing next to torrey and torrey is taller

edge setters.
This is true, however I think our lb's will improve in this area much easier and quicker than rushing the passer... being a great pass rusher is something you kind of have to have a talent at to be a consistant threat. I look at the QB's on our schedule... Ozzie if there was ever a time we needed your magic, its now.
