Sergio Kindle?

140 posts in this topic

The innjury to Kindle doesn't help him but I understand he's back in noncontact drills. Kindle has to have the game of his life this Thursday. He must either get sacks or QB pressures or impact special teams.

If Kindle is cut who makes the team at OLB over him? Kruger, McClellan, and Upshaw will make the team. Does Chavis Williams beat out Kindle? Or do we sign someone off the streets? I just don't see a viable option behind him. Maybe we will use McClain outside or something but right now I don't see Kindle going anywhere.

In my roster mock I have room for all of them. When Upshaw was injured I believe Kindle saw time with the 1s during practice, so I'm pretty sure he's ahead of Williams on the depth chart. Kindle made a lot of improvement this year so it'd be hard to part with him knowing he's on the up-swing.

Chavis Williams has performed really well this offseason. He's more of a ST guy, but has shown a bit of worth as a pass rusher as well. He's no one you'd want starting, but he can provide a little bit of depth when someone needs a break. He'd be my guess to make the roster if we were to get rid of Kindle.

I'm leaning that way too. So many times during training camp I read/heard reports of how good Kindle looked especially with his burst and acceleration. Nothing could be further from the truth this preseason. He has shown no burst off the edge to beat guys outside and no strength to bullrush. I've been disappointed in him.

He definitely doesn't have ideal take-on strength but he's still explosive enough to beat tackles around the edge. I've seen him do it a number of times this pre-season.

I won't be surprised if he doesn't make the team (Nigel Carr for one has outshone him) but I wouldn't be eager to toss him aside with how underwhelming other OLBs have been.

If he does get cut, that's such a disappointment (by that i mean him being a bust and a wasted 2nd). We all had high hopes for him, and then he had that unfortunate injury. And now he just hasn't performed.

So much potential. He had so much potential to be one of the greatest. Its a shame! I wish him the best.

Maybe his special teams value will prove enough to keep him. We don't have the best depth at OLB either. He might make the team by default.

Yeah he got MANHANDLED tonight by their LT. As in shoved down to the ground and flattened. If anything, we may hold him for depth, but he just doesn't have it anymore.

I have us keeping 9 LBs but I have Nigel Carr making it, so it's either Chavis or Sergio.

Carr stunk a ton a few times and made some plays. His on the same boat as Sergio

This would be his actual *honest* 1st season as a raven. Alot of pressure on him, and he didnt do much. Yeah Sergio might be cut. Might make it to PS

I thought he needed a good game to solidify a spot, but boy did he come up small tonight.

Now, I'm not sure. I think Chavis Williams is definitely in, but Kindle may not be if they feel that need help at another spot.

Although, if Upshaw's injury is more serious, they may have to keep Kindle - at least for now.

Is he eligible for PS? I think that might be the right move. I don't see anyone rushing to pick him up.

I think with all the injuries we have suffered at the outside linebacker position we should look at the possibility of pickin up a veteran free agent perhaps a shawne merriman

I seen a few pressures from him but I just wish he would hit home! I'm. Pulling for him
[/quote]Imo it's not just him we don't have a good pass rush as far as what I see Upshaw or Kruger aren't showing much

I agree whole heartedly. Pees is either going to pull a Mattison on us, except with more creative zone blitz schemes because he can rely on Webb to at least somewhat hold his own on an island, unlike Mattison who could rely on zero corners to cover anyone. Or, Pees is going to go Rex Ryan on us and blitz 6 every 3rd down to generate some pressure because the entire OLB corps has looked like crap in the preseason. Kruger is soft on the edge and hasn't generated much pressure, Upshaw has been underwhelming to say the least half the time I wonder if he's even diagnosing the play quick enough he just kind of goes with the flow of plays, Kindle is the same way with less power to him so he gets pushed around when he tries to sit on a play, McClellan has played ok but we are fooling ourselves if we think he can come in and do anything of significant pass rush or run stop ability day in day out.

I know Merriman has not looked like the Merriman of old but I'm concerned in this area of our game right now. I would not be against such a move.
