Sergio Kindle?

140 posts in this topic

I am in the minority that doesn't just like Kindle and hopes he makes the 53, but rather believes he will make the 53 and will have an impact season. I don't think Kindle can win those 1-on-1 match-ups. I think that is his problem. The thing is in the regular season you will have Kindle playing in a unit with Ngata, Cody, McPhee, Lewis, etc. I think he will be a player that will have an impact in our system but fail outside of it. He needs to have a system around him to be successful. Otherwise, yeah, he will fail.

His fate will primarily be determined by OLB cuts around the league. Right now, I don't see him going anywhere due to Suggs' injury as well as McAdoo's.

One thing in Kindle's favor is that he's only making $465,000 this year, so he's an inexpensive option. He's a UFA after this year, and I'm guessing that he's getting his last shot to prove he's an NFL caliber pass rusher.

If he doesn't dramatically improve though, he'll be hard pressed to find employment next year.
I'd say that's a HUGE factor. That's what's going to keep him on this team. If we were paying him Aaron Maybin rookie money, he'd be long gone by now.
I see him making our team still, this season is his last shot. I think he'll be a situational pass rusher for us. Remember he is still prett much a rookie.
That's what people have been saying. There's no chance he'll be an every down player. At best (for this season), he'll be filling in Kruger's spot from last year.

But I'm glad Ozzie and Harbs stuck with him since the beginning and through all the road bumps since. He's become so humble and grateful for everything, that you can't help but root for the guy.

Not to throw Upshaw under the bus already, but do you think we'll still be looking for a force on the opposite side of Suggs in 2013? We have 3 second round draft picks vying for that spot, and none of them are exactly, blowing away the competition. Right now we're most excited about a undrafted free agent from Marshall. I'd really like to get this pass rush going so we can focus on finding Ed/Ray's replacements and a stud LT.

Sergio who? That was my first thought. If he isn't the absolute definition of a bust....well then I don't know what bust is. He's done nothing to even warrant making the Ravens. That's saying alot with the God awful pass rush they've shown in two preseason games. Where's your sack king T-Sizzle now??[/sarcasm] Fizzling out that's where.

Just seen on Rotoworld that Harbaugh stated that Upshaw has lost ground on Mclendan (sp?) for the starting job. He must not be having a good camp or Mclendan is just out showing him.

He hasnt had the opportunity due to his injury. I think Upshaw will still play a significant role even if he doesnt start. I'm also fairly confident Kindle will make the team. He is essentially a rookie out there in terms of playing time so the speed of the game i am sure is a bit of an asjustment.

I was so bummed when he got injured. Having him made losing Suggs less of a blow, at least for me. I saw big things for him this year, so much potential. I would have still liked Kindle to make the team along with McAdoo though, but i'm really bad about the process of cutting players. I wish we could keep more than 53, I like our depth.

Let me help ya out here. Its Albert McClellan and yes, Upshaw came into camp overweight and not quite conditioned as he should have been. Not a very good start to your NFL career there Mr. Upshaw!

I was never a fan of Kindle. If our style is truly a best-player makes it thing, I can't see how Sergio Kindle will make the roster this year.

Well our best players need breathers some times. Especially late in the game. If Kindle can come in fresh and be able to rush the passer while the opposing teams offensive line is starting to get tired, then I think he'll be worth it. Plus the dude was a 2nd round draft pick who has struggled the last 2 years due to injury. This year he has a better understanding on the playbook, and is getting back into shape.

Months ago, someone posted that Kindle needed to have a great training camp and preseason to make the team. After 2 games, I don't think this is happening for him. It's a shame that he was injured, but the NFL is a tough league even when you are 100% healthy. My prediction is that Kindle gets cut or sent to the practice squad this year. It all depends upon how he performs in the last 2 games.

And don't count on teams lining up to grab him from the PS.

McClellan has earned the starting spot at this point in time. The starters on Thursday will probably be the same ones on MNF against the Bengals. They will have 3 quarters to show what they are capable of doing against the Jags. I really want to see offensive firepower and defensive dominance. Upshaw only needs to gain momentum to succeed. I was so happy when we drafted him. Unfortunately, there won't be a reprieve for our secondary until our pass rush shows something.

That's if he even gets to the PS. Too bad we didn't trade up 2 spots and grab Gronkowski before the Patriots got him.

Kindle will get a roster spot. He's still ahead of Chavis Williams on the depth chart, and I expect Chavis to make it (though maybe not after Suggs comes back).

I haven't seen any pre-season games yet, but I have heard nothing but disappointing reviews of Kindle. I doubt he pans out. Too bad. He could have been a beast but his injury and now this stuff about him having hearing loss in an ear?

He's in bust category. Sucks but we gotta move on

Yeah as I watch McClellan fight for the open spot and read about how well he has been playing it has me slightly shocked I guess because I felt that Kindle might impress and earn significant minutes with Suggs absence, at the very least I thought he might become a rush specialist, but for the most part I haven't noticed him much in any of the 3 preseason games, I'm wondering where he might fit in on the depth chart

He's running with the third team now. It's not where he hoped he'd be but having a player with his raw talent as depth is a luxury.

we never show our cards in pre season. We've never been a team to dominate in pre season. Our guys aren't even game planning, they just show up, and play. Our pass rush will be relentless as usual, I don't know how many times we need to prove people wrong but apparently people have forgotten that we were one dropped pass away from being superbowl contenders, didn't lose any notable FA's besides Jarret, and now people think we're a 6-10 team at best again. Aren't you professionals supposed to be intelligent or something?

Only Skip Clueless would disparage a player
who fell down two flights of steps and had a
serious brain injury . I don't give a rats [profanity deleted] whether he was drunk or not cause guess what
20 something year old kids make mistakes . I did .

Very low class .

Did Kindle even play last night?
Nope Considine injured him against the Lions.

Kindle's probably going to make the roster. And I doubt he goes on IR - if he does, he may get cut afterwards - this was more or less his 'make-or-break' season.

Did you mean not going to make the roster? Just wondering because I just think, sadly, he is gone. The Ravens' gave him every chance they could but we just have too much talent we need to make an effort to keep around for Kindle to take up a roster spot now.

No I think he does, he's been running with the second team, had some nice practices... He definitely makes it through the 75 cut, probably the 53. Who takes his spot at OLB? McClellan, Kruger, Upshaw, Williams?, Brown?

He can have all the nice practices he wants... as far as I know Justin Harper practices better than Ray Lewis.. I mean that's all we ever heard about during training camp was how Harper was having an amazing camp. Reality is Kindle that you can't tell Kindle is on the field during the game. I don't see any upside.

He's really not as bad as people make him out to be, in game. We'll see.
