Omar Brown

What's everybody thinking about this guy? An Interception, 3 fumble recoveries, and an Onside Kick Recovery. Anyone think he has a shot of making the team as a back-up safety with Thompson?

He's sure making a case for himself. The announcers were shocked when he came up with that onside kick, and then went over the list of recoveries he's had in just 2 games.

I am rooting for him.

I was very impressed by his play in the last two games. I'm hoping he performs well enough in practice and the next two games to earn a roster spot. You can't teach instincts and Brown has a great nose for the football.

I'm rooting for him. I was dumb enough to miss the 2nd half of last game, but not this time. That guy is making a case for himself. Not sure about his coverage after this game, but he can definitely play.

I like him. If he finishes the preaseason as strong as he started, then I think he'll find a roster spot.

Barring injuries, I think he's already made his case to be #51, #52 or #53 on our roster.

Stay healthy & keep up the good work, Omar! We'll be seeing you soon!

This guy has great instinct to where the ball is and he also has great hands; he didn't drop the loose ball when he has a chance..

So far he is definitely a keeper.........Harbs really likes him cuz he'll make Harbs' special team look good.....

It's not a fluke that he's making turnovers and recover, which means he has good positioning skills, which is not easy for safeties. He might have made a case to backup Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard due to his ball skills and special team contribution.

I like him, for all the same reasons everyone else above me has said. We have a lot of great rookies, both drafted and undrafted. Since i believe Thompson makes the 53, Brown's biggest competition, from what I've seen, is Considine.

Omar Brown had better make the roster. He looked better than Consodine and Thompson, therefor he should be in.
4 turnovers in 2 preseason games. That's just incredible.

He needs to buy whoever popped the ball loose on the fumbles and Deonte Thompson (for getting the first hand on the onside kick) a steak dinner!

Christian Thompson, who is actually one of his competitors for a roster spot.

Any idea who it was on his other recoveries?

There are 2 Browns on this team. They both DB's and they both battle for a roster spot how confusing is that?
[/quote]
3 Browns, actually.

I love a kid that has a nose for the ball, and he certainly has it... but not all preseason superstars make the squad. I could see him stashed on the practice squad or IR this season if he doesn't make the 53.

Im happy for him, but if I remember correctly almost all of his recoveries were because of plays others made. C.Thompson with the hit near the endzone and D thompson who tipped the ball forward which was eventually covered by Brown on the onside kick.. I sort of feel like Brown has been reaping the rewards of plays others have made.... But I do like that he has a knack for being around the ball.

Who cares if he didn't make the original hit that produced the fumbles, as someone on here pointed out? That just means that Two guys made great plays. You still can't deny that he has a nose for the ball and is Always around it. Listen, a turnover is a turnover and this guy keeps getting us the ball. He has great instincts. It's hard to let a guy like that go. To me, he's somehow gotta be a special teamer at the least. You just have to find a way to keep a ball hawk like him around. Just my opinion.

IMO there is a difference between causing the turnover and recovering the turnover...

The guy is making plays. It sure is cool to see. And both Considine and Cook didnt look good at all last night at safety, so I would think that those backup safety spots should be Brown's for the taking.

Agreed. And I don't buy the argument that Considine is a ST ace. We have Graham and Ayanbadejo for that. I haven't been impressed in general with Cook. Give Omar a shot with more of the second team defense.

I think we got our 4 for the safety position.

Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Christian Thompson, Omar Brown

Brown seems to be a no brainer because he's making plays while the other safeties are having quiet games.
