You're forgetting that he also played extremely well against other good QB's and WR's.....

Look at the 4 TDs that Cary gave up. . Out of the 4 TDs he gave up, I can name atleast one of those you can not credit against him at all. and I also remember there was another one during the season that I would not credit against him.

First TD gave up on the year. Big Ben in the redzone. For some odd crazy reason our defense decides to rush 3 men. Ben runs around for about a week till finally a receiver got open. NOONE can cover a NFL receiver that long NOONE. Put super man in a Raven uniform and he would have given up a score in those circumstances. (Guess that is just me making excuses for him)

Sure he can certainly work on his ball skills. I will agree with that. But he had a very solid year in coverage last season.

Lets get this straight, Cary Williams is not Revis, Or Webb, but hes a damn good solid No.2 in this league that will be tested a hell of a lot when you have Webb pretty much shutting his side of the field down.

He has his limitations an his strengths, he wont ever be a Revis or Webb, but he doesnt need to be. He had a couple of mental errors, and if he cuts them out, and hangs on to some of them PDs he gets, he could have a good shout at being one of the best no.2s in the league. Hes not there yet, but he could be. All we need him to do is cut down on the couple of mental errors, dont let the TDs in like last year, and get a few TOs.

A rookie and at least two were in one game against one of the best QBs in the NFL and some awesome WRs.

Put him on guys who will probably just do a slant just maybe he won't humiliate himself.
I've been wrong before.

He played well in both Texans games. He played well against Cincy who has pretty decent WR's. He did well against San Fran who is average at both. He also played well against the Patriots.

So Cary allowed TD's against Tennessee, Pittsburgh (Mike Wallace, enough said), probably San Diego, and the fourth TD is escaping me.

If his only allowed TD's were in his first game starting (possibly Kenny Britt), against Mike Wallace on a deep route, and San Diego, then I think he did quite alright!
That was more a fault of the play caller than Cary, he followed Williams for well over 7 seconds, ran the deep route stride for stride with him, which then turned to a crossing pattern across the back of a busy Endzone.

It wasn't just TDs that he allowed.
And most of what he did in those other games was just not humiliating himself.
The Rams is the fourth one iirc, kenny britt was on fox, played 5 yards off inside the 5 yard line. Easiest TD he will ever score

And for what its worth, all defense is about this day and age is stopping TDs and adding a TO or two. One he done really well, the other he didnt.

Exactly ! How can any rational man put that TD on him? I also remember there was one more similar to that during the season that I would not have credited Cary for. I am just too lazy to look it up right now. LOL

I just don't get how anyone can call our secondary overrated, even more so after the first pre season game.

Just a heads up incause you didn't know, pre season defense is VANILLA. Also, without a bunch of week 1 starters on the field. The best thing that can come out of the first pre season game is that all of the players get out of it without any major injury..that's it. You can't really judge much on just the first pre season game.

Does anyone remember pre season game 1 from last year when we played philly? Their defense looked lights out against us..look what happened to them once the season started. Oh and I recall a few years ago a 3rd string rookie QB by the name of Flacco was forced to be the emergency starter against St. Louis in a pre season game, he looked absolutely terrible..now one of the best QB's in the league.

Let's not forget that this is the same secondary that shut down Tom Brady last year. Bernard Pollard has exceeded anyone's expectations. He was signed to be a safety that can hit and contribute on run defense, and he actually played well above expectations in coverage last year. Alot of people had Carey Williams not even making the roster last year, look how he performed. Webb is as good as any Pro Bowl CB out there. Ed Reed can't hit anymore, but his prescence out there alone requires any QB's attention, he still has pretty much the same speed, and he's still got the best hands out of any DB that I've ever seen. IMO the LB corps should be what everyone is worried about..we are going to be relying on much more unproven commodities there than in the secondary

A few. I have four on there. It still gives you the option to read their posts while you're scrolling down the page, so curiosity brings me to read their post anyway. It still serves as a good warning though.

*This is a test post to see if I can ignore people.*

I can also add that I still miss Josh Wilson after playing madden 13 demo with the redskins.

I think Cary is the best #3 CB in the league.

That is all.

Yep and everyone's entitled to one, but your's is just wrong - completely and utterly wrong. You listed a couple of scrubs who aren't in the NFL any more as better than Williams, after being shown undeniable facts that proved your argument incorrect.

He's a nice, complementary corner and the point you've been repeatedly trying to make is invalid and, quite frankly, stupid. I can't fathom the argument you're trying to make because it's just illogical, it just shouldn't exist.

[insert stupid pictures here]

I can find pictures of Kyle Boller throwing touchdowns and winning games but that doesn't mean he's a good QB. Just like pictures of Cary getting beat don't make him bad. He is a very good number 2 corner. Most teams would be happy to have him.

Cary was one of the most targeted cornerbacks in the league last year and gave up the fewest % of the top thrown-at corners (http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/01/12/cornerbacks-a-glance-at-the-2011-numbers/)

The same site ranks him 17th in the league in terms of tackling efficiency (not missing tackles) (http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/02/12/2011-tackling-the-cornerbacks/).

This argument is ridiculous.
