Scott is gone. We cant keep Suggs, Lewis and bring in Aso without abandoning the offense more then we need to. We've still got Jason Brown going up for free agency. We will need to invest in either keeping Boller or bringing in a proven backup QB. And we also need to get a WR and some depth at TE.
I know this is getting off topic, sorry mods but is any one else with me on liking Chris Gamble more then Aso bc of cap reasons? Hes not that much worse, and I think hes a gamer who would excel in our D. I would like to see a WR and CB added, and I think Gamble fits the bill at CB maybe even Dunta Robinson (If hes not franchised).

Actually I would think that Boller will be gone after this year, the team seems to be confident with Troy as the back-up (especially because of the options he gives us with the Suggs Package-type stuff), plus even with him in the last year of his contract his salary isn't that high. I'm sure during the offseason they will bring in the 3rd QB, but it won't be a expensive veteran guy unless Troy somehow shows he can't handle being the back-up (which I doubt will happen).

If they weren't confident in Troy, they wouldn't have let go of Bouman. Maybe just grab a late round qb it keep us moving in the preseason.
Kinda scary. With Flacco and Troy in at multiple packages, what happens if one of them is hurt? Any ideas?
Sam Koch will come in and throw for 350 yds and 3 tds

Well I'd think Mark Clayton would be the No. 3 (emergency) guy for us now, but I kind of think now that once we get healthier in the secondary that we might bring him (or someone else) back, it seems he was cut more because of lack of depth there than anything else (kinda like why Bouman was brought here to begin with).

Koch is the backup on Madden 09.... you trying to say Madden is wrong :o lol, nah but I would much rather see clayton back there if need be, at least there is an option we could run or something lol, koch at QB would make me LOL though. Especially if we were up like 56-0 against the steelers and he came in for mop up

That would be a slap in the face for the Steelers no doubt.

I will say this though (but I don't mean it seriously) the only reason Koch is the back-up in Madden is because they only allow QBs, Ks, and Ps to be listed in the QB position on the depth chart :P j/k
If that happens I would be very happy, replacing C-Mac with Aso would be a definite upgrade. The only question I have would be will we have the cap room to re-sign Suggs, Lewis, and Aso (assuming we cut Scott loose)? And then still have the room to try and pick up some offensive weapons (either through FA or the draft)?
Nnamdi Asomugha is probably getting franchised or is gonna expect bank since he is considered the best CB in the league. We don't have bank to give him when we want to re-sign Ray, Suggs, Bart Scott, Jason Brown, Willie Anderson, and Neal. I don't think we need him if he wants money instead of a championship ring. We have a good chance of getting Chris Gamble (4.5 40yrd, 40 inch Vert), Dunta Robinson (4.34 40yrd 36 inch Vert), or Bryant McFadden (4.47 40yrd, 40.5 inch Vert.). Gamble is a great cover guy (18 carreer INTs), Robinson is a great tackler (Defensive Rookie of the Year 2004), and McFadden has practiced against Ben-gay on a daily basis. We could draft OLB Aaron Curry from Wake Forrest or put one of our many backup LBs in Bart Scott's place for next year.
We might have Rolle, CMac, Willis, and Clayton on the chop block to free up some cap money.

BTW Willie Andersen is signed to a three year deal so we don't have to worry about him.

Anyway . . . the way I see it the major guys we should focus on re-signing this offseason are (in no particular order): Suggs, Lewis, and Brown. Scott unfortunately is replaceable with the youth we have at LB and I think he'll command enough attention in FA that any offer we make will be beat by another team. Second if we end up trading or cutting C-Mac that will give us some more cap room and then make a play at Aso that will give him a big signing bonus while the rest of the contract his weighted toward the end of say a 5-6 year deal so its not too heavy on the cap room this year; plus there's the option to trade or cut Rolle too and then draft a CB or count on Washington to step up as the No. 2 CB.

Just an update on this:
The Ravens re-signed quarterback Todd Bouman and added safety Daren Stone. Stone, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2007. He saw action in 12 games as a rookie, totaling two tackles and eight special teams stops. Cornerback Anwar Phillips was relegated to the practice squad.

From the Notes this morning on www.BaltimoreRavens.com

So it looks like Bouman is back and Wheelwright is gone, that's a bummer but I guess he didn't show the coaches anything to make them keep him one, but I hope they resign him to the practice squad.
I agree. I was hoping that we would resign Casey Bramlet (PS eligible), instead of bringing Bouman back. I guess they don't have enough faith in Troy to be the lone #2.

I think its more to do with the fact that Bouman is used to the system and he's a decent veteran back-up option for us to lean on if something were to happen to either Troy or Joe and we needed a QB.

if were throwing them both in at the same time its safer for us to have a backup rather than none. it only makes sense
